Just arrived home from a nice dinner at Twisted Steak. Service was excellent, dinners were very good. I think they are getting dialed in to the new location. There are a couple of notes on the dinner I would add. The meats were very well executed, no complaints there. The Caprese Salad was excellent. The green beans and asparagus in both the grilled vegetable salad and served with the mains were not up to scratch. For us, they were undercooked and underseasoned near raw and bland. I like vegetables that are crisp, but these were a bit too much so. The green beans were young which was fine, but they still had the 'tails' attached and that didn't help. A bit of fat and seasoning definately was needed. The seating used seemed limited to the upstairs west seating area, and the rest of the restaurant seating appeared to be unused. This resulted in a bit crowded and loud dining room, it might have been better to have spread folks out into the other areas a bit. The old Keg space is much nicer than the old location, and overall we were very happy with our meals and experience.
My wife and I were there January 6th for supper Sure it's expensive. But the food was spot on. All except for the veggies on the side, which could have been warmer. Justin, our waiter, was run off his feet. Which tells me that they are staff poor. Otherwise the experience overall was quite enjoyable The restaurant itself is worth a visit.
The first photo is the Twisted Steak “Caprese Salad”. The second is Caprese Salad. That’s it. Note: The saving grace is the serving staff; who were amenable and lovely. 5 stars for the staff. 1 star for the “chef” or kitchen staff member that conceived of the dishes. Maybe there’s a basil shortage? Is there a mozzarella crisis I don’t know about? #AITAH Given the consistent photos of raw, undercooked meat and sloppy presentation my guess is the kitchen isn’t really managed and food is slapped together any which way. Given the price it’s pretty surprising. Just lazy, unprofessional management probably. One can do much better elsewhere. Why spend money here?
I wasn’t expecting much based on the reviews and location in a hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. Great NY steak with prawns and pepper sauce, perfectly medium to render the fat. Stuffed potatoes and veggies were charred perfectly. Very hot horseradish on the side and a nice BC red wine. Excellent service and a nice vibe.
Food was very mediocre at the best. We had the tuna with risotto and asparagus. The tuna was good but the rest of the meal was bland and the asparagus had turned woody. It was really noisy with nightclub type of music - not quiet and relaxing. I remember the old keg being in this location and the decor is the same. I suspect it is the same carpet and art work. It you want a romantic meal in a serene setting go elsewhere. Kid-friendliness: There were lots of kids there.
Valentine's dinner at $75/person should be pretty spectacular. Our reservation was at 5:30. We finally got our dinner at 7:10. Husband enjoyed his steak. My salmon was nearly burned, though the mango sauce was great. Our server, Jaycee was fabulous. Kudos x10 to her! Seamus at the welcome desk was embarrassingly rude to a deaf couple in front of us. I felt so terrible for them as they walked away as there was no room for them. He continued to yell orders into the kitchen which made the evening less than pleasant. For $230 for the two of us, I'd like to see more thought on the part of the manager and the food. I realize it's a busy night, but...!
Steak house located in an old train station. The service was good and the atmosphere decent. I was surprised that it was fairly traditional steak offering on the menu especially based on the name. My order came wrong but it wasn't a big deal. Surprisingly they didn't know how to cook Chicago style. But again no biggie. Overall we enjoyed the food. It was decently prices and well made with good ingredients.
I wanted to love this place but the steak was overdone and the portions were pretty stingy. Nice staff and enjoyed the visit. Just wish the food reflected the pricing. That being said i would go back for a second time just to be sure. Everything else was great.
That is 1 star more than they deserve. I made a reservation for my wife and I to celebrate our Anniversary. Because it was special occasion I asked for a nice table. Well, our nice table was on the lower floor at the back next to the waitress station and next to a staff door. No other patrons near by. We ordered our meal and a bottle of wine. The bottle of wine was brought promptly however the waitress never came back to refill our glasses. Not that big a deal. Our appetizer, stuffed mushrooms, was tasty but you really had to look to find the mushrooms. Over an hour latter the waitress returned to our in the back table and said “Oh I’ll check on your meal”. While she was away, another waitress arrived with another appetizer. Several minutes latter our waitress arrives with meals. I had ordered a ribeye steak with mushroom, medium rare. A $50 plus meal. My less than 1/2 inch thick steak arrived. I cut into the over cooked steak to see that it was cooked longer than well done. Not one drop of juice on my plate after cutting into steak. We got up and left. Thank goodness there was a table at Earls so we enjoyed an excellent meal. Twisted Steak opened for 2 days but I hope they close in 2 more days. Highly recommend that you find another location for your dining enjoyment.
I want to like this place I really do but the service was horrendous. I was brought 2 glasses of water that were dirty, they forgot the garlic bread with my pasta and half of my girlfriend's meal. Then the speakers cut out in our section so no more music. A few minutes later we can hear banging loud music and yelling from the kitchen. The food we did receive was good and this place has the potential to do very well at this location but the staff need to do better.
