It can get very crowded at dinner, but I highly suggest coming here as a late lunch place. Walk half-way into the restaurant, passed the bar to the host stand to get a table or put your name on the list. Great old fashioneds, onions rings are good and the ribs are perfect. Go for the zesty/spicy sauce - it isn’t hot - it is flavorful.
Everything about this place was spot on. Ribs and wings were delectable. Our server Mary was the nicest person. We fell in love and told her we wanted to take her home lol. We just kept ordering more food. The entire staff was super friendly and the other guests were lovely to talk to while we waited for our table. Can't wait to come back here when we are in Chicago again!
Highly Recommend: had full slab of ribs, definitely recommend if hungry. Onion rings with ribs are good, baked potato is very simple, basically just that a potato with butter. This is one of my favorite places when craving ribs. The spicy sauce is not that spicy, so definitely try it. Place can get pretty busy dinner time, recommend reservation if you plan to go at a popular time. The service is quick and unfortunately can feel almost rushed or as if they want you quicker to be done and out - could be great if you are in a rush though. You pay right at the table as server brings card reader, not something I enjoy at places in general as feels like servers hawkishly stand waiting for the tip, probably a misconception of mine, but can be uncomfortable if you feel like the service you got is not up to highest tip choice - to each their own opinion on this matter. I also had the Amaretto sour that I thought was great if you like sours, definitely recommend.
Iconic place with rich history for both my family and this restaurant. My mom grew up on North Park and came when dating my dad in the 1950's. Now here I am, I've coming all my life. Now to the food-the only thing I have ever ordered here are the ribs-original sauce. You get a choice of fries or baked potato, coleslaw, and of course a pickle. Tender, fall of the bone meat. The zesty sauce has a little more kick, darker, with a more vinegar taste. They used to serve pumpernickel bread, but since the pandemic they can't get it. It has been replaced with a pretzel bun. We went on a Saturday afternoon and actually didn't need to pay the $15 valet charge. We parked on North Ave heading West. Betty, one of the employees there, has been there over 40 years. It's a gem of a place, and it won't disappoint. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars...it's a family favorite!
I was excited to come to this place when I saw the great reviews compiled with the full dining room. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The bbq sauce was not impressive. Both the ribs and the chicken states as though it was completely unseasoned. The chicken nearly tasted boiled. The service was quick and the waiters were helpful. Would not be returning.
Very special ribs, not too sweet or sour, crispy crust and tenderness with juicy meat inside. Drinks are decent, cranberry bliss and twin toddy are both good. The patio section is pretty nice and not crowded as inside, plus it’s warm too. Cannot forget to mention the service is really good here, the waitresses gave us good recommendations and very friendly conversations. It’s celebrating its 90th year history btw.
Casual and fun environment. Tried both the "Zesty" and "Prohibition" bbq sauces for my half-slab of ribs. I preferred the Prohibition, which was sweet and mildly spicy. I would also recommend the Zesty Beans. Parking: Valet parking is available.
Ordered delivery of ribs prohibition sauce, beans zesty and onion rings and loved all of it. Really one of the best ribs I had and the onion rings were wonderful.
Rumoured to be an old favourite of Sinatra himself, and still true to that charm today! A neighbourhood bar feel, drawing visitors from across Chicago with excellent ribs and even better seasonal cocktails. This was real Chicago at its best and a highlight of my trip.Dine in: Yes
Traditional and old school local bbq joint. One of the best ribs I have had. The onion rings were good but the fries could definitely be improved probably the only thing that was not so good. The pulled pork also recommended. They have a few sauces, I liked the sweet one. It seems this was one of Frank Sinatra’s favorites.Recommended dishesBBQ Sauces, Our World Famous Ribs
