I have gone into the store and Liz has always been friendly and allowed me to bring my cat on on his leash and helped me with treats that he might be able to have as he has as a kitten almost died due to urinary crystals. She made a wonderful and kind comments about my cat Rascal and he is now 14 years old.I appreciate having the option of going to this store as they are very knowledgeable.
As a new resident to Nanaimo I have enjoyed checking out the various independent pet supply stores. Before I moved here I searched for a store that carries the items I buy for my dog and lucky me I ended up living within walking distance of Oliver's in Brooks Landing- great store!!! But I still love to check out other stores, last week I happen to stop in the mall where True Blue was and we went in. A small fence was blocking off the store as the owner had a small dog in the store. When I asked if the fence could be moved enough for me to come in as I walk with a cane and can't go over the low fencing...I was asked if I really needed to come in!! I said yes as this was my first visit to the store. She replied that most people just ask for what they want and pay on the side of the desk. Again I mentioned that this was my first visit and I don't know what she carries and would like to look around. Someone else moved the fencing for me without little the little dog out. I didn't buy anything her attitude and higher prices turned me off. Oliver's has my loyalty! Excellent quality food, great knowledge, fabulous customer service...thanks Val!!!!
Been buying my dogs food here for over 7 years. The owner helped me through finding a food that helps my pets allergies and improved her skin! Since going here I have had two babies and the owner is wonderful with my kids. Let’s them throw the ball for her dog in the store! I can’t rave this place or the owner enough!! I don’t know what I am going to do if she ever retires !!
Update: I posted about my experience on Facebook. I got a half-hearted apology, a couple of the owner's longtime friends left aggressive comments, then they deleted my post altogether. So of course they have great ratings on Facebook! Tried going into this pet store and didn't make it past the entrance. The lady there had a gate up because there were two reactive dogs in the store that came running and barking at us. Once she got the two dogs into the back no apology or anything, she stood at the gate and asked what I needed. No invitation to browse or come in. Everything about her body language said I wasn't welcome. It was weird.. I then asked if there were any pet-friendly pet stores nearby since it was clear we weren't welcome there and she told me to try Bosley's :/ There are plenty of friendly pet stores in town so I don't feel the need to go back here.
An amazingly helpful owner. Liz has helped me a ton to find the best food and other products for my dog. She knows ask of her products very well and has made special orders better fitting coat. I highly recommend this store.
I love this pet store. She always has insight and is helpful with new healthy food or treats for my pet companions. Don't pay attention to the other reviews.
Great products and knowledgeable staff.... smug, unfriendly owner behind the till, she really knows her stuff so I put up with it for my pets sake. Jeez, I killed her with kindness, that did't work either!!!
They had what I was looking for and were friendly and helpful in finding it for me. They offered to carry it to my car, and suggested a follow-up to find out how satisfied I was with the product.
Always there for my pooch and I. I am so appreciative staff and their kindness and knowledge. Allways there for me know mater what!!!! Love the raw food selection and quality !!!
Caring owner, even brings in raw food. Great shr brings in her own pet...adds to the ambiance and you look at other merchandise she carries
