Tru Tea

So excited that Tru Tea opened a location in Ottawa. There's no external signage though, so I walked by it so many times not even knowing it existed. I think it started as a ghost kitchen business only available through Doordash and Fantuan, but then about a month later it popped up on UberEats and that's how I ordered. When I went for pickup I asked if you can also order in-store and if they plan to be a regular store with seating and they said yes, you can currently order in-store and in the future they will be like a regular bubble tea shop with seating. Yay! I got the Strawberry Trupioca and it was good but too sweet for me. I asked for no sugar, but it was still so sweet, lol. It's a strawberry slushy on top of a layer of milk with "Trupioca" which is like agar bubbles. They were springy and delicious. It was $8.35 which is a bit pricier than other chains but it had real strawberry puree and was tasty. I would have liked more Trupioca though, haha.

Sadly the milk tea doesn’t have a strong tea flavour to it, I got the double roasted and I still barely taste the tea. We ordered about an hour before closing and the pearls were sadly old, brittle and flavourless. The drinks have a lot of potential, I know it recently just opened and so I’ll my eyes out in the near future.

Ordered the soy pudding tru tea and it was delicious. I added the honeydew jelly and the Osmanthus jelly as extras but I think it was worth it.Food: 5/5
