Things I do NOT appreciate about this library:n1. Chairs are too high. Only the couches are of the right height.n2. There must be some school nearby because it attracts a lot of rowdy teens immediately after school hours. It gets really loud in the afternoon.n3. Washrooms are gross because some of the customers are gross. Can't complain because this is a public place after all.n4. The reading garden has potential but currently it's just a waste. I'm not sure why they call it a garden because there aren't enough plants there. It's more like an alley.n5. It's usually too cold. Consider dressing up in layers.nnThings I DO appreciate:n1. The timings. I don't know when they fixed it but back when I used to regularly visit this place in 2019, the library would open and close at different times every day.n2. Once the Eglinton Crosstown line finally starts working, this library will be just a two minute walk from the Mt. Dennis subway station.n3. The printers and scanners are quite fast. I've never seen them out of order.n4. The librarians are friendly and helpful. They have a v high turnover though.
The staff here are very rude. My friend and I were standing outside in the pouring rain two minutes before opening. A staff member opened the door and went inside, so my friend caught the door to enter. The staff member told us to leave and slammed the door in our faces.
Image: The writer took an image of the main floor in the library. Where the two sides of the table have been blocked off with garbage bags. Leaving the other side open to anyone that wants to sit and study, or read.nnHowever, for someone like me that has “anxiety” and needs to sit facing the entrance, and not the back wall. This setup is inaccessible. Afterwards, I spoke to the librarian and asked her if I could sit on the other side, she told me no. No accommodation was made for me. This creates a barrier for anyone that has a psychiatric disability. For the remaining time that I used the library I sat on a high chair that is uncomfortable for my leg that is in pain. Furthermore, I spoke to two library workers about this and I feel like they did not care about what I was trying to say. All of the other study areas in the library were occupied. These were the only two spots that were not occupied. Please, listen to people, and learn to accommodate anyone with a psychiatric disability, physical disability, or anxiety.nnThe same librarian then came up to me cleaning the tables and asked me if I was comfortable, and I said “no.” She then started laughing, I asked her why she was laughing at me. Then, I asked her if it's ok to laugh at someone that is uncomfortable. I’m a plus size woman, that has anxiety, and my knee is in pain. What makes you think that this situation is something to laugh about. Discrimination is real.
This library is very nice and they allow you to use their computers for free and the assistants is very approachable.
Friendly and helpful staff. The library is very quiet, a perfect place to read or study. There are computers, print service, kids room downstairs. Very nice place. I recommend it.
