A perfect place for day outing. You can take the ferry from downtown and reach the island in 10 minutes. The island has few café, barbeque areas, playground for kids, fast food restaurants and gorgeous beach. There is a gigantic lighthouse on the island. The best way to explore the island is by foot but one can also get the bike rentals. I usually ride my bicycle around the island and it feels very good. The spectacular view at the night of the city skyline is breathtaking. Weekends are busy try to visit on weekdays. The panoramic view of the city is worth the watch.
It's a great place to visit during a sunny weather. It has plenty of areas for picnics, multiple beaches for swimming, and a few landmarks, such as Gibraltar's lighthouse. There's also an amusement park for kids, a small animal farm, and a couple of restaurants. Beware of the pricey food however; it's better to bring your own. All three islands Centre, Hanlen's, and Ward are connected to each other. It's best to traverse it using a bicycle you can rent or bring your own, as it gets tiring after long walks. It's better to arrive and depart from either Ward or Hanlen's, as Centre Island is the most crowded out of the three, unless there's something specific in Centre Island that you'd like to visit first. Using a water taxi is worth the few extra bucks. You can return to the mainland using the ferry for free.
WOW! Amazing experience I absolutely recommend try boating in Toronto island you need to have a boat licence to try boating yourself I've attached a couple of pictures that I took from middle of the Lake Ontario :D Also, below is my research about Toronto Islands: The Toronto Islands are a group of small islands located in Lake Ontario, just a short ferry ride away from downtown Toronto, Canada. They are a popular destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a range of activities and breathtaking scenery. One of the main highlights of the Toronto Islands is their beautiful beaches, which are some of the best in the city. Visitors can go for a swim, relax on the sand, or enjoy a picnic on the beach. The islands are also a popular destination for boating, offering a range of activities including sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Another must-see attraction on the Toronto Islands is the lush parkland, which covers much of the islands. Visitors can stroll through the gardens, admiring the lush vegetation and diverse wildlife, or head out on one of the many trails for a hike or bike ride. The islands are also home to several historic and cultural attractions, including the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, which is one of the oldest lighthouses on the Great Lakes, and the Toronto Island Park, which features several picnic areas, a playground, and a large pond for paddling. Overall, the Toronto Islands are a truly special place that offers something for everyone. Whether you're looking for a relaxing day at the beach, a fun outdoor adventure, or a cultural experience, the islands are a must-visit destination in Toronto.
Good weather but too much flies all around that area. Multiple spots for pictures and many activities for all age group. Ferry part is one of the great enjoyment. Had a great day today
Visiting the islands is delightful when the weather is pleasant. The area offers numerous activities and ample space for exploration. There are plenty of walking paths, making it an excellent destination for pet owners. While the food lines can be quite lengthy, it's a typical aspect of bustling spots and contributes to the overall enjoyment.
Beautiful parc, where you can spend literally whole day and you won’t be bored. There’s an amusement park on the island - we weren’t there, but I think that’s a nice place for children. You can take a nice walk, rest on the grass - nice spot to plan a picnic there. There’s a beach and the pier. You can rent a bike. There’s also a beautiful view over Toronto. For me this place is magical, so peaceful an a great place to rest, even to go there alone and enjoy the nature.
Toronto islands are one of my favorite place in Toronto, which you can touch the nature steps away from downtown. Regarding the transportation, there are 3 ports ward’s island, Centre island and hanlan’s point in the Toronto island, which all departure from the Jack Layton terminal station, the round trip ticket is $8.7, you can either pay online or by the counter. please pay attention to where you are going to. Otherwise you have to walk or biking from one island to another one, which is pretty far. Check the ferry schedule, if you miss one, you may need to wait for another hour to get another one. As for the sightseeing, make sure you know where are you going and board on the right ferry. If you are going to the clothing optional beach, go towards Han lan’a point. If you want to rent a bike or go to the Centreville Amusement Park with your children, go to the centre island, otherwise go to ward island if you want to do a throughout tour around the islands. On the way to the island, you can enjoy beautiful skyline of Toronto if weather permitted, which is thrilled and excting. Would like to visit again and again in different seasons.
It's an amazing place to visit during summers. Downtown skyline is best viewed from here. There are plenty of areas for picnics, multiple beaches for swimming, and a few landmarks, such as Gibraltar's lighthouse. There's also an amusement park for kids, a small animal farm, and a couple of restaurants. Subway and Pizza Pizza are there. Centre, Hanlen's, and Ward islands are inter-connected to each other.
Must visit place if you are around Toronto. If you are searching for a day outing place to visit with kids and family then this will be correct choice for you. Book tickets online if you can to avoid wait times. Get the map before boarding the ferry so that you can plan accordingly. On the island there are tons of place for you to picnic and lots of fun activities for kids. Splash pads, rides, kids pool and beaches.. All in one place.. You can see the city view from the island which is soo nice in both day and night time. For parking you have to search around the city as there are many. There are plenty of washrooms on the island which are well maintained. Highly recommended place atleast once.
One of the best place I visited in downtown Toronto. Picnic spot for family, friends. Anyone can enjoy whole day here. Good places for lunch. Enough washrooms are their. Children park is there for kids. In line its special treat for anyone who visit it.
