Thrifty Car Rental

It's quite a story, but long story short, stay as far away from it as you can. They take extra money out of your credit card! I booked a car for 3 days online, with $1 per day then pay for mileage at $0.49/km. I booked for 4PM pick up, but the guy was not in office. Called the number and he asked us to wait for half-hour. When get everything done it's almost 5pm. I drove 60km in the 3 days, and returned, on a Sunday, at about 6pm. They were closed so I just dropped the key off. A week later I found my credit card charged for over $70! I called and asked for the receipt. They charged me for 105KM! Even worse, they also charged an extra day, for $11. 1st, I never had any company charged me extra day for a return less than 1 hour late. 2nd, I got the deal for $1 per day. No one ever told me the late return extra day cost is $11. At last, I got the mileage re-calculated, and they refunded me $17. But no luck for the $11 extra day charge. If I didn't check my visa bill and call them, they will just charge the extra money from my card! Will never trust them and never do business with them again.

Stay away from this place. They are scammers. They will tell you online and on phone that you need a $200 deposit but when you get there charge more. They charged $350 to my credit card for deposit. When I said no they said they had refunded that money and did another $250. So my deposit ended up being $600. The 'Full Size' car was a Suzuki Kazashi or something like that. Scratches all over it and sounded terrible. Needed a ton of work. Brakes were a little iffy! And getting my deposit back is another story! Best of luck if you rent from these guys or any Thrifty for that matter. You'll need it.

4440 Gateway is the wrong address for this location. It's actually at 5404 Gateway - they moved a few years ago and didn't update it. Really bad customer service experience, and the car I rented had a passenger door that couldn't be unlocked with the key and a faulty gas gauge. I recommend renting somewhere else.
