Was trying to register my children in to Waldorf and was doing some research about this school specifically when I stumbled upon a very intetesting petition. This petition formulated by parents of current students states that WISE is teaching students as young as 6 gender ideologies and things of a sexual nature without informing parents or asking for consent. This is highly concerning because one of the biggest philosophies and visions according to the man who founded this way of learning is that a child's innocence is preserved throughout their childhood and to include or bring attention to anything resembling a person's sexual identity is probably the biggest way you could take away a child's innocence. Highly disappointing, we will not be enrolling our children here and do not encourage other parents to do so.
As parents of two children at The Waldorf Independent School of Edmonton, we are thoroughly impressed with the holistic and nurturing educational environment WISE provides. The school's commitment to fostering creativity and critical thinking skills in its students is evident in every aspect of its curriculum.nnThe teachers at WISE are exceptional. They demonstrate a genuine interest in each child's personal and educational development, creating a learning experience that is both engaging and tailored to individual needs. Our children have flourished under their guidance, showing noticeable improvements in their academic abilities as well as their social and emotional skills.nnOne of the most remarkable aspects of WISE is its emphasis on outdoor and experiential learning. The school's unique approach to education ensures that students are not just confined to traditional classroom settings but are also given ample opportunities to interact with the natural world and learn through hands-on experiences. This has been particularly beneficial for our children, who have developed a keen interest in the environment and a deeper understanding of their place within it.nnThe sense of community at WISE is another highlight. The school organizes various events and activities that involve not just students but families as well, fostering a tight-knit and supportive community atmosphere. We've found this to be incredibly valuable, as it has allowed us to be actively involved in our children's education and the broader school community.nnOverall, our experience with The Waldorf Independent School of Edmonton has been exceptionally positive. We highly recommend WISE to any family seeking a comprehensive and compassionate educational experience for their children.
I would give them 0 stars if it was possible. I wish nobody would face what we faced with this school. I have never seen such a messed-up organization. They will show you all roses and daisies and you would be curious to get your children in the school, but school organization shows absolutely no loyalty to the children or parents. They sugar coat everything so much that the real meaning of the conversations is lost. They talk so much about love, loving your child and you are their friend and all this, but wont even takes a second to deny your child admission 2 days before the summer break. Our child was with the school for 3 years and he was denied admission in grade one over a letter that was sent to us 1 day before the school closed for the summer break. Before that, everything was sugar coated by the teachers and so called “admissions committee”. We had no school for 2 of our children until just now. Our children were mentally and emotionally damaged that we couldn’t even see their classmates over the summer because my child wanted to know, why can’t he go to the same school in grade one. What changed just day before the summer break. Well done admissions committee, especially Keely for ruining our summer break, putting us through such a mental and emotional trauma. We paid around$ 3000 tuition fees for 2 of our children and school told us that we will receive reimbursement back in 3 weeks, which was in June. It’s been over 2 months we are still waiting for our hard-earned money. They love your volunteer hours and donations but shows very little to no loyalty to you. Apparently, they have done this in the past and continue to do, to deny admissions just 1 or 2 days before the end of school year and leaving families in limbo. Nobody raised this issue that is the reason they keep doing this. We contacted the principal who had nothing to offer to us, we sent out an email to the president, I guess who too busy planning their summer break was and didn’t even bother to acknowledge our email. I would never recommend this school to anybody. I wanted to spread the word so other families don’t have to face what we faced. The emotional and damage this school has done to my family will always be there.
Such a wonderful school, feels like home every time we come. We love the teachers, the way of learning, and the community. I wish I had gone when I was a child! My son thrives at Waldorf.
I did some school “shopping” and went to a lot of open houses for my kids. I wanted a school that would take my child as they are and encourage their development emotionally and educationally. My girl had been reading since she was 3yo, did 100pc puzzles. I found this school was exactly what she needed. Her brother saw how happy she is and had no problem attending kinder too. The teacher honestly care about your children, they follow the standards for education in Alberta and the community of parents is awesome. As an introvert myself, these parents and teachers make me feel at ease and I love to volunteer because we all want our kids to be in a loving & safe environment where they will succeed in the future. Looking forward for my kids doing the extra curricular activities the older kids get to do with music, theatre, history, math and science!
