The Sonder Shaker
"Located in a cozy historic Northeast space, The Sonder Shaker has the allure of a modern neighborhood joint. The menu features a mix of classic and new dishes, and is inspired by different types of cuisine, the seasons and the restaurant's purveyors. The cocktail bar whips up amusingly named drinks, many of which feature house-made bitters, syrups, and infusions. Our goal is to bring together neighbors and friends in a warm and casual atmosphere."

We love this neighborhood gem! Great atmosphere, food and cocktails. They have the best happy hour food deals. The burger here is top 10 in the city, but so are other bites on their menu! Their entrees rotate but we’ve always been happy with the food we receive. Highly recommend stopping in for food and drinks!Recommended dishesSonder Burger, Burger and Fries, Wagyu Burger, Conch Fritters, Beet Salad, Green Curry Scallops
This place is seriously amazing! Right from the start the service was great. Our server Brandon was top notch. The cocktails were really creative and tasty. Appetizers were great, the perfectly seasoned, crispy smash burgers lived up to the hype! And the bananas Foster bread pudding was to die for. We will definitely be back!
Birthday dinner with my family. Started off with appetizers, Brussels sprouts which were excellent and short ribs. For dinner we chose 2 burgers, 2 jalapeño pesto pasta and 1 skirt steak with mushrooms. Everyone was extremely happy with their choices. Fancy drinks were ordered and beautifully presented. Dessert was a must, we ordered the Banana split with banana bread and homemade strawberry sauce and chocolate mousse. They also gave me a large piece of chocolate cake with sprinkles. Happy birthday to me !! Thank you for a very nice evening!!
This happens to be one of our go to places to eat. Been here many times and the food is always very good. The mussels are my absolute favorite and must have. I tried a new appetizer on their menu, blue crab with avocado on endive cups. It was a miss on several levels. First it was a very light smear of the mashed avocado with a little amount of blue crab mixed in which I could not see or taste. To make it worse it was topped with Fresno chili and spice mixture which overpowered such a delicate dish. This one needs to be rethought. Can’t win them all but I will be back for my favorites!
For the oysters, photos added. The baked cheese masked the caviar and was a bad pairing. It was also priced at about triple to four times what it should have been. I hear this place is good on normal nights, avoid on nights that require reservations or Holidays and weekends. They ran out of food on a reservation only Valentines night and only let us know after 2 hours/after we ordered our food. Trust me you don’t want to be here when things hit the fan. Avoid busy nights like the plague. *Update, they did provide a gift card refund. I appreciate that and have updated the review. Still ruined valentines day with my SO but respect the response.
One of our favorite restaurants not just in Northeast, but in all of Minneapolis! The vibe is great, drinks are good, and every single thing we've ordered for food has been fantastic. Pork chop - fire! But sadly not on the menu anymore. Brussels sprouts are amazing. Fries are a must. Jalapeño pesto pasta is unique, and great! And I saved the best for last - get the burger. One of the best in the city!
Happy hour has some worthwhile deals, but service was slow on a Monday at 5 oclock. $8 brisket fries were mostly tastey, but I got a really fatty portion of meat. "Delilah" cocktail tasted a bit soapy due to the rose flavor. Good atmosphere, I would give it another try but today was just a 3 star visit. Parking: Hourly Street parking.
Very disappointing. After making a reservation, still had to wait. When finally seated, 2 servers kept circling our table without stopping, had to talk to the host to get service. The food was also extremely disappointing. The crabcakes, thin deep fried patties, tasted like the cardboard box they came out of. The walleye looked and tasted bland. The shrimp and grits were bland, and tiny shrimp. Was told they would be butterflied on the grill, definitely grilled but again small and right out of a frozen bag, definitely not fresh or even large enoughto be butterflied. Save your $100+ and find another place for food. Actually had to go somewhere else to have dinner. Doubled our cost for a nice dinner out. Let's end on a positive, the old fashioned was delicious, hats off to the bartender.
Loved all the drinks here and food was really good too. Happy hour is the best time to come. The wait staff is awesome too!!!
Absolutely blown away by this place. Indeed beers on tap. Delicious grilled Romain Caesar, one of the best burgers I've had think culver's style but fancy wagyu with a delicious sauce. And leveled up with our terrific and attentive server, Devon. Tried mussels for the first time and regret not ordering them sooner. Will be back. Picture is after they were half eaten. Update: their brunch is obviously unreal, but see some photos. Really enjoyed the Biscuits and Gravy that somehow photographs well, as well as the chicken and waffle. My partner loved the crab cake Benedict. After a year plus living in the city I can confidently say Sonder Shaker is my favorite restaurant. We will be back again and again.
