The atmosphere and ambience is special. It feels like a café in Europe. They have live music and great food options. You can’t beat the view of the river. Went for brunch for the first time, small menu but the Lox was delicious; I would definitely order it again. Indoors is best for small groups. Their outdoor patio is large but doesn’t take reservations so there might be a short wait at busy times and beautiful days. We each got two drinks and a brunch entree for about $56 includes tax, tip, and $5 Cover charge per person for the swing band
We stopped in around 5 on a Saturday an we easily got a seat outside. This place has great ambiance to go along with a nice menu for both food and drinks. The bahn mi was decent and so was the cauliflower. Our waiter was great and the service was quick. We loved the experience and plan to stop back soon.
Across the river from downtown Minneapolis sits a cobbled street with city views and a quaint little place called the Aster Cafe. It has pretentious written all over it and maybe it is but tonight was nothing but top shelf music, booze and smiling faces for these first timers. We drove up to hear some songs from one of our favorite Westies and the space played well for his songs. I look forward to a summertime visit as the patio looks like it might be a great place to enjoy a nice summer evening. Enjoy!
This is a cozy little cafe/bar for listening to live music while enjoying a strong cocktail with delicious food. I am happy to make this review because the last few years they had been relying on their location best patio view of the river right on St. Anthony Main while their food and service were declining to the point that I had stopped going, but for some reason I started going again the last six months. Over these past six months I've enjoyed the food with great service on a consistent basis. Way to go, Aster Cafe.
Great place overall. Lot of outdoor seating area. Decent food, good presentation. Finding parking on a weekend might be an issue though.
We enjoyed a delightful brunch on a Saturday. The hollandaise on the eggs Benedict was extra creamy and the fennel sausage blended spice and flavors well. The classic turkey sandwich came with a tasty mayo and great bread. The outside seating is calm and roomy. The service was impeccable.
Beautiful automosphere, both inside and outside when the weather permits. The lighting and interior is gorgeous, the music is lovely, with love music featuring at certain times. I had the Bahn Mi, which was delicious. The flavors were well balanced and the bread was freshly made. Card only, you can pay right at the table with the server when ready. No waiting.
Brisket grits - 5 stars. Delicious wouldn’t change a thing Country Benedict- 5 stars. Eggs cooked perfectly every time I’ve got it, and the breakfast potatoes are great French toast bake - 5 stars. Really delicious. Unlike any french toast I’ve had. I wish it had more strawberries though. Lox - skip it. To much lemon flavor, the lemon was to strong Overall - 5 stars, one of my favorite brunch places
Great atmosphere with good food and drinks. I enjoyed the sound of the waterfall while eating. However, there were a lot of ants on the patio when I was eating—be sure you aren’t seated at a table near an ant mound!
This is a total hidden GEM in the St. Anthony Main neighborhood, right off the MN River, complete with cobblestone streets and a magnificent view of Minneapolis! It's a funky and hip vibe of a Paris café. Aster has a small stage at the front and hosts live music often, even in weeknights. Perfect for a date! They have great food although pricey with a service tax that's new. The service leaves something to be desired, but the music, food, and old school, Europe ambiance makes up for it. Parking: If you're lucky, you can find paid street parking, otherwise, plan to find the nearest garage on the next blocks over, to pay and walk.
