The Shanty Café is a casual dining restaurant and catering business located at 6B Central Street in the heart of beautiful downtown Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
We focus on serving great meals that are flavorful and affordable. Featuring a variety of dishes inspired by
local and international cuisine, this is the perfect location for a relaxing breakfast, a delicious lunch or just a friendly gathering.

The Shanty Café is a Social Enterprise. Our parent company is the Yarmouth Association for Community Residential Options (YACRO)
Our mission? To bring authentic, real food to our community, providing meaningful jobs for people who face barriers to employment.

Come on down, try our all-day breakfast, sandwiches made with our famous Shanty buns, or get adventurous and enjoy a bowl of authentic black
bean soup and a Cubano sandwich.

Couldn't say more good things about this place. Stopped in on a whim this morning and was not disappointed... Everything was cooked perfectly, staff were lovely, my coffee never got empty, and the prices were incredible.nnI will be coming back for sure and not just once.
We were seated and ordered our food within minutes of entering the café. Food arrived exactly as ordered - they use a tablet, so be patient when you are a picky eater like me, lol!nnOur food was wonderful, and as you can see from the picture, the portions are huge. My mom's breakfast was already half eaten when I took the picture. They have an all day breakfast. The only downside I saw was there was no kids menu or small activities like coloring for kids.
We tried their cappuccino and drip coffee both were strong and fresh. The cafe seems to be a local popular, it was packed on a Monday morning! The server was a nice and courteous. Unfortunately didn't get to eat any there since we had already had our breakfast at home but definitely going back if we do visit Yarmouth in the future.
This is a pleasure to find . I have been on the hunt for a local Breakfast place , which was open early. This place is a true Gem of Yarmouth. Excellent Food , so many choices. The customer service and atmosphere is top notch !nThank you for the wonderful Experience. We will be back!!!
Wonderful spot, whole family enjoyed the friendly service, delicious food and Nova Scotia vibes. Excellent and extensive menu. As of Nov 30, 2022 they're open 7am-2pm, closed evenings and weekends. Manager I spoke with send hrs will be extended for Spring and Summer seasons. Please give them a visit and enjoy!
