The place has heart, it’s beautiful but technically it’s not great. definitely not worth the price. the pros were the jacuzzi tub. the cons were everything else. There was not one but FOUR stands of random gross hair in the shower.. that tells you they don’t clean it… there was also hair in the jacuzzi and other nasty things when we turned it on. Also my boyfriend took a bite of the eggs for breakfast and pulled a stand almost a foot long of hair OUT OF HIS MOUTH. they said it’s supposed to be a quiet retreat but the people above us were so loud and didn’t quiet down until past 9pm. I really enjoyed the dinner buffet but my digestive system didn’t and it made me very sick. maybe this part is on us but since we went during the winter the roads were absolutely terrible and definitely had no salt or plow to make it easier. Also the beds were rock hard and the pillows sucked. i was just glad the sheets had been changed since the rest of the room was disgusting and dirty. they also don’t vacuum the floor at the end of the night or wipe the tables down so for breakfast the floor was covered in trash and crumbs and the tables were sticky from food the night before.
We love this place! Just were there for the second time, this time was fall tho...so the sunrise on the lake with the colored trees was just gorgeous. A room with a hot tub is a must, and definitely make it a priority to get a banana split! Yum!
I was expecting a small lounge cabiny hotel. What I got was a beautiful experience. The main cabin is huge with nice lighting, comfy seats and a wonderful rustic feel. We all dozed right off on the beds with a nice lakeside view. Banana splits were great, along with a warm breakfest and dinner. Great pool tables also. Only complaint is, we were looking for a place to do some drinking. With a light out at 11 curfew that made it difficult.
Beautiful rooms and grounds. The museum’s on property are so fun to explore. The room was great and the food they provide is delicious. Everyone is kind and friendly. Stayed at many hotels and this one is by far the winner. I can’t wait to take another mini vacation here.Rooms: 5/5
Have been here many tines for MI Farm Bureau and related AG events. Always a super clean and very plesant environment. Simple, but always excellent food. The log cabin decor is off the wall amazing, I have never seen anything like it, at least in this part of the state. !!!Rooms: 4/5
The rooms are very clean, the rooms had everything that you needed or wanted. Coffee and Tea, microwave, hot tub, refrigerator. It was a very relaxing place to go. The food was good and the portions were enough. Every night at 8 pm they serve banana splits
My husband took me here to celebrate a milestone and we loved it. It was relaxing, peaceful and unique. Family friendly, but perfect for a couple’s getaway. Be persistent to call for reservations. It is worth it.
we enjoyed this for our mini honeymoon 10/8-10/10/22 we had a queen bed with heart shape hot tub and fireplace in the room as well as a mini fridge and microwave. The room when we entered smelled like a nursing home and the water is definitely on a well, as soon as we turned the water on the sulfer smell gaged us! the bed itself is a spring mattress and was quite uncomfortable. Lovely property even though it's smoke free grounds and buildings we just rode off the property to the boat launch around the corner to smoke...All in all I would still go back and stay again! Rooms: More for the older generation, with the smell , beds are spring mattresses and uncomfortable but we still made the best of it and enjoyed it! Food & drinks: you are served a daily breakfast from 8-9am, dinner is served by token at 5:30p or 5:45p then you are welcome back at 8:30pm for multiple flavors of ice cream to make banana splits!
I recently stayed at The Shack Hotel and while the rooms were good size, they were not as clean as I expected. The room had some dust and cobwebs and the bathroom could have been cleaner. On the plus side, my kids loved the shuffle board and the banana splits they served at the hotel's restaurant. However, the food was only average and didn't stand out. Overall, The Shack Hotel has a decent accommodation but the cleanliness and food could have been better.
We had a weekend retreat here recently. Very nice rooms and so nice to have meals on site as well. Especially since it's a bit far out of the way. Very comfortable, and nice to have kitchen rooms available too.Rooms: 5/5
