I brought my son on a downtown Sunday funday years ago and we went to the library and Mickey’s and the market but the crown jewel was our visit to the Schubert Club. The docent was informative and friendly and it was really cool for my guy to be so hands on with some great musical artifacts in the touch and feel portion of the museum. It was a great day. And as a teacher I recommend to parents to bring their youngsters there on the weekend. I’ll be back to visit soon! Great memory!
Thursday's at noon at the Landmark is world class artists and the sonic ambience of a one of a kind room...Bravo!
Charming little museum with extremely friendly and helpful staff or volunteers? Hard to tell but they sure were nice.. Small - not a ton to see or hear but if you just like being in a musical space in a beautiful building you will be happy here. I wouldn’t go super far out of my way but if you’re in the neighborhood when it’s open - for sure go visit.
As an amateur pianist this was definitely the highlight of my day trip in Minneapolis area. This place is amazing - They let you play these old and precious instruments, one of which was actually played by the some of the most famous composers and pianists. The staff was great and welcoming.
This place is a hidden gem of the Twin Cities, and it's free. It's hosted in the gorgeous historic Landmark Center on the 2nd floor. When I went there, the staff member was extremely friendly and gladly gave us a demonstration of the organ. The real highlight for me was the first room, where you are allowed to play on several 19th-20th century pianos. How many times have I been at a museum and itched to play on the beautiful old instruments? There was also an interesting little room with non-European instruments, but most of the instruments were pianos. This place is great, and I'd definitely recommend it for any music lover or pianist.
We do a field trip here every year. The girls look forward to and enjoy the learning. There's always a craft to do and take home.
This is an outstanding little museum for anyone interested in music or music history. They have an impressive collection of instruments, especially pianos and harpsichords. Several of the instruments can be played by visitors. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.
