The Rockcliffe Boathouse

It was the perfect place to go grab a bite and brew that day! It was hot and humid out, but sitting by the water was perfect! Great breeze, great scenery, and great atmosphere! It was very busy that day, but who could blame people for flocking to Rockcliffe Boathouse Restaurant on such a sweltering summer afternoon!? If you enjoy boats, brew and breeze to keep you cool during the summer, you can't beat Rockcliffe Boathouse Restaurant to keep you happy!

June 2022 update Really nice place to sit on and by the water. No other marina in the Ottawa offers the same access nor view. The access to parking is tricky as it is often overlooked with its hidden driveway next to a lookout point and half covered display facing west. hence if coming from east, you only see look out gazebo and not the signage. It is a steep and sharp turn descend to the parking. But once you get there, plenty of parking. Need to walk thru small floating bridge to get to restaurant. My favorite spots are thé 3 natural wood bar stands with stools right on the floating platform. This year they added roof covers extending to 2 of the tables. Here you have view to opening of a Gatineau river, rue saint Jacques across river and Ottawa river. There is also a water taxi runs between Victoria and thanksgiving. $5 to cross river or more if you want to get to Hull history museum or Mill pub war museum The only problem I have is that not only they increase their price significantly, the food was not as good as before. We ordered poutine with pull porc , it lacks hot sauce and pull porc was cold. Same the for the nachos. A lot of chips but except the top bit, it was all code when we had it. Overpriced $16 for a semi cold small nacho plate. And drinks as well……. Not the same causal place as before. Need to watch your pocket now. hence 4 stars.

The view is incredibly 5 star. I could sit there all day long. Was there only for the view and happen to order the drinks. They were disappointing, served in plastic cup, I believe my cocktail had very small amount alcohol in it. Fries were decentunseasoned.Food: 2/5

Have been an occasional patron for years. As a rule, a good experience. Came in for a beer today Sept 12 at noon and observed that the patio was less relaxing with lengthy and loud radio station commercials through the speakers. The waitress stated, "We don't choose music"? and a male staff member "quipped", "If you don't like commercials - go to a place in The Market". Stark deviation from staff hospitality norms. Very unpleasant. Well treated customer tell 3 people; dissatisfied tells 10...

Nice spot by the river. Refreshing up after pedaling along the Ottawa River pathway. Just a bar menu, burgers, fries, nachos, but it nice to have a break and enjoy the view. The fish sandwich was ok.

I’m surprise that Tavern on the Falls always has a line up and packed compared to this boathouse resto that is always quiet. Probably because it is a bit more secluded. Amazing setup! There is also a cute blonde dog belonging to the staff that patrols the quai occasionally. The staff is very friendly. One of the best scenery in Ottawa No beers on tap, but decent assortment of bottle beers to choose from. There is also a bike rack if coming on bike from Sussex. No reservation needed.

This restaurant has such a cool location and offers a "local's" culture, with a very cool patio right, like RIGHT, on the water. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were disappointing quality. The chicken on my salad was evidently cooked over a day ago, and looked/tasted stale. My drink was served in a plastic cup and I could have sworn there was very very little alcohol in it. The salad also contained a copious amount of iceberg lettuce that overwhelmed the other toppings. I think it's also important to note that none of the other staff or guests were masked during my entire visit, and no screening questions were asked. I was really looking forward to going here, and I see the potential for an incredible quality business, unfortunately, this just isn't anywhere near impressive.

The view is impeccable! We regret that we only found the place in fall or we would come here more often, such a great get away during the pandemic

Used to be Ottawa's best kept secret but this establishment is being discovered big time. Regular pub fare and reasonably priced beer 5 beer bucket for $30.. This marina offers water taxi to other destinations on the Ottawa River. A feel good destination in a town that had turned its back on the river. Well done.

Great atmosphere at this restaurant.plenty of available parking. Food was fast and delicious. Staff is very friendly. Great ambiance. Beautiful look out of the river.
