Craft Brewery & Scratch Cooking - In The Heart of the Byward Market

Story

The land Lowertown Brewery was built on has been home to locally made beer for over 150 years! It used to be home to the Commercial Hotel Tavern, built in 1837, making it the oldest bar in the Ottawa area at the time. While the Tavern burned to the ground in 1982, its legacy lives on in the Lowertown community.

The service was great, our server was friendly and very attentive. We ordered the wings and the brisket and found both to be kind of dry and lacking in taste. When the restaurant started to get busier, it was very loud....we could barely hear each other. Apart from that, the restaurant is in a nice location.Food: 3/5
Lowertown Brewery is a must-visit for anyone in the area. The nachos were delicious and the beer pitcher was the perfect size for us. The service was fantastic, our waitress was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere of the place was also great, really enjoyed our time there.
Great brewery with an extensive patio, good selection of beers and excellent food. The buttermilk chicken sandwich is a must try when you visit. Inside is also super fun and worth checking out if you are looking for some fun vibes in the market.
My team and I organized an event and Jason, the GM, was wonderful! We had fruits, veggies, a salad bar and desserts lined up, buffet style, and some waiters passing around hot food all evening. The music was on, they have arcade games available, and we had the whole patio as well! There was a lot of food to go around, everything was clean & organized, and Jason communicated everything to us very well and allowed our group to stay a little longer. Phillis, the bartender, was also very helpful and professional, leading up to our event and the day of, along with the rest of the wait and kitchen staff. We'll definitely be hosting another event at Lowertown!
Hands down the place to watch football in Ottawa. Caught a few games here with some beer and nachos and I couldnt have asked for a better time. Good food and great service!
Nothing wrong with this meal, but nothing really stands out as exceptional except the price either. It is a tough economy for us all, no doubt, but eating out on an unmemorable experience like this one won't help stretch your dollars any further. Service was friendly and efficient, and atmosphere is fine. 43 bucks tip and tax in for a plate of pub grub and a lemonade is just not in my future plans.
Came here two Saturdays in a row and it's got a great patio. The staff is super friendly especially the waitress Jamie. Great vibes!!
One of our favorite spots in Ottawa. Get yourself a pretzel. They’re delicious! Great indoor atmosphere, outdoor seating and friendly servers. Lots to see on the patio if you sit along the street. Good selection of drinks including beer pairings and fishbowls. The food is excellent and the portions are huge, including the poutine, nachos and sandwiches.
To make it simple and easy, that was my favorite place for 2 yrs, ordering one single item: Smokey Habanero Chicken sandwich. Tonight things went south! wrong order twice, and an over cooked crispy chicken that you cant even chew. No worries mistake’s happens. Our lovely waitress decided to convince us that the order was wrong because we added a side dipping of honey garlic, well none of what she said was relative to the issue but still its fine, people can have a bad night at work. To make things even worse we were offered a discount of 4$ …. well I guess things went above and beyond our expectations!
My wife and I came to Lowertown two weekends in a row and were quite impressed. While the food was impressive, and the drinks delicious, it was the staff that really made our stay pleasant Thanks Jamie!!. I recommend this place 100% and will be going back soon.
