Pretty awesome pizzas. The wood fire taste is amazing. Busy but not crazy crowded. The pizzas take the usual time you know, nothing that a cold beer wouldn’t improve. The pepperonis in the pizza are great. Very tasty peppers. Finished the whole huge pizza in one sitting, that good they are.
Great dinner - good beers on tap, and the My Generation pizza was an awesome combo of crispy, tastes, yummy. Would have rated it higher but an hour wait for the pizza was just too long. Friendly service.
Came in to celebrate my dad's birthday on a Saturday at 1300. Called when they opened, but no one answered and left a message to inquire if a reservation was needed for 7. With no response...we went ahead to see and found the main dining area was closed and the place is really quiet. Only spot open was at the bar. Sad thing is that there was only the bartender to man the place and 2 chefs in the back. Apparently there isnt really much of a staff willing to show up and help handle the crowds that came in waves. We placed our orders and expected to wait for some time considering the staffing situation. Not a problem considering we had a good group to chat with. Food showed up after some time and...well...it was good. Not the greatest, but not the worst. Good thing I like my pizza crispy...but it definitely spent more time in the oven than it should have. Wings have the usual hot sauce like other places. Would be nice to have more options and to crank the heat level up on them. Portion size is worth that though. No one really complained or had much of anything negative to say from the pizza and pastas we ordered. Cool thing is that the people around were good sports and joined in with singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dad. I noticed that a table from earlier sat cluttered for the time from when we arrived to when we left. There was a gal who showed up and started helping the bartender. But I noticed a lady that had been there the whole time and didn't seem concerned and was above helping out any. If that was a manager...then I can see why people wouldn't be willing to show up and do what needs to be done. It almost sounded like an ongoing issue based off other reviews. I remember going here years ago and it's a shame it seems to have lost its fire...
I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 if I could. Came by for happy hour, it's a huge space, a ton of tables. The drink menu and buckets menu is solid, I got a 'Supreme' personal pizza, and it wasn't bad, but it was nothing to wrote home about either. I'll be back as it's close to work and an easy happy hour spot.
Located off 196th St SW between 40th Ave W and 44th Ave W on the south side of the street. Visited, I mean attempted to visit on 4/9/2023. I was with a group of 15 who were hungry for some pizza, thirsty for some beer, but more importantly, just ready to chill out, relax and hang out! The group of 15 was part of a Southern California youth ice hockey team that was playing in a tournament at the Kraken Community Center. As the group walked in we were immediately told they wouldn't serve us because there only like 4 people working. I get it, people just don't want to work. We weren't in any hurry and would've been willing to wait for our drinks and food as they came out, unfortunately we were never given that option. The host went to speak with the manager who was holding up a wall with two other employees, about accommodating the group. After speaking with the manager, host relayed the bad news that they wouldn't be able to accept our money. We figured if they didn't want our money, we didn't want to beg them to take it! Luckily for us we found another pizza place less than a quarter mile away who was also short staffed but more than willing to accommodate us; Zeeks Pizza. Make sure to read my review on Zeeks Pizza, you'll definitely want to stop in over at Zeeks! In closing, it's unfortunate The Rock Wood Fired Pizza is short staffed, but if you'd explain that to potential customers, they just may cut you some slack and go with the flow. But, I guess that why there were zero customers in the restaurant. Best of luck to the place.
Pizza was ok, too sweet of a sauce on the Margareta pizza for us, not much mozzarella. The salad was very good. The service was great. The waiter was very nice. The atmosphere would have been better. We were seated by the entrance very, very cold, could tell you very time the door opened! Before we received our food, it was ready to go .
Was seated around 6 pm with two of my friends for dinner. No one told us more than half the menu was NOT Available. We sat waiting for about 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken at which point we were still NOT told that about 75% of the menu items were NOT available that evening. It was not until we finally got to try to order food after waiting for a good 20 minutes AFTER we finally got to order and receive our drinks that almost every item we had set on was NOT available. The food we were able to order was delicious. But the waiting and the unavailability was unacceptable.
Only reason I left two stars is strictly the COOK OF THE PIZZA. If you plan to go here please make sure you do not sit in the back of the bar, have ample time to spend and when it comes to food ONLY ORDER THE PIZZA. Tonight I had ordered the nachos and my husband really wanted the queso dip. Please do yourself a favor and do not order anything with queso. The cheese was so burnt tasting and physically smelling of rotten cheese and came out already back into a solid yucky form. The manager on duty did do right and remove the said items and my husband and I ended up shared his personal pizza - which was awesome and yummy - but quickly exited in disappointment. In addition the bar seemed extremely understaffed and what staff there was working in the bar - Savannah A. - pick and chose which tables had her priority leading me to the bar asking for a manager as we hadn’t been checked in on well over 30 minutes of time while she had the time to sit in and chat with coworkers instead of making a round checking in with folks. We were not the only table lacking service at the time either. While we were trying to be respectful of her time being the only server it’s very frustrating when we were highly recommended here with really high hopes and the bar had VERY little customers to even be extremely busy at the time to begin with…. I’d hate to see it on a real busy night just like any other well known restaurant. Should have taken that as the first red flag. Overall terrible experience for great pizza but there are definitely better places to go with an overall better atmosphere and edible cooked side items. Wouldn’t waste the time for the service and/or inedible food.
The chips and queso were good but I watched them sit in the pass through window for 10 minutes before they were brought to our table, service was a bit slow. Our biggest issue was that the $32 pizza was not cooked through. The top crust was properly blistered and the toppings looked and tasted good but the dough just under the toppings was so soft and raw we didn't finish the pizza. Disappointing. This was our second negative experience here, we don't plan on returning.
I am sorry to say that this was the worst experience I have ever had here. We were seated with out any idea the full menu was not available. I over heard the waitess tell the guests behind me that some of the menu was not available including what she ordered but did not elaborate, left, came back and told her she was sorry but that was also not available. They ordered something else. We were asked what we wanted to drink about 10 min after being seated. Order was not taken for another 10 min. We ordered garlic cheese bread and 2 personal pizzas. Waited 35 min to ask about the cheese bread and she said she would check on it. A few min later she was walking by the other waitress and discovered she had our cheesebread and was taking it to a different table. Now we have been here an hour and no drink refills or checking in on us. The people next to us got part of there order and behind as well. However the table that ordered just before us was never given her salad even after asking 2x and when they finally after waiting another 5ish min, just said can we get the check the waitress responded with oh it just came up, I can grab that for you now. They declined and paid and left. Now our pizza arrived quickly after our bread which was surprising, however we quickly discovered this was because it was not fully cooked. We asked for a box and check and paid and left. I did tell the waitress that the pizza was under cooked but at this point we has been in the restaurant for an hour and a half and needed to go. Good luck finding staff, I think things would improve tremendously. Also inform your guests of things like long food times, reduced menu items and inexperience, your guests should make the choice if they have time for this or not.
