Perfect getaway. Set in a former rail hotel, our room had nice views of the Hudson River and was very comfortable and beautiful. Lots of little details, like placards for the Jacuzzi bathtub, assuring the guest the tub's autoclean feature was not a ghost in the room. The hotel is next door to the current Rhinecliff rail station, and trains come through several times a day, but the noise is not too bad and is a cool feature of the setting. Breakfast was very good, so much better than the usual hotel fare.

A beautifully updated, airy and graceful building with very friendly and attentive staff. I love the situation next to the Hudson River. Some people might take issue with the train station being right next door, with the trains passing in front of the building, but I personally enjoyed that.

While the venue is really nice and the food is great, there were some glaring mistakes made having our wedding there: First, air conditioning. We mentioned to the venue many times, before and after putting down a deposit and the many days leading up to our wedding day, that the venue will need to get the temperature down inside before people move in for the reception. We were assured that the room would be ice cold by the time we got in there. Not only was it a hot day (nothing they can do about that), but the thermostat was set to 77 degrees inside. The bride's mom mentioned to the manager that morning that they need to turn down the thermostat early that day because once 90 people cram in there, its going to get hot. Sure enough, the venue kept the thermostat at 77 degrees that morning and all throughout the day. Once we all got inside, it got up to 85+ degrees. in a matter of minutes. At that point, we just opened the doors because it was cooler outside. Many of our guests had to leave early because of the heat. Others just stayed outside where it was cooler. The take away is that their AC is either really bad, or they could have prevented this by cooling the room in advance. Either way, they did not give us what was promised. It's a petty complaint, but what bugs me is that we told them to address this well enough in advance many, many times and it never was. Second, we ordered select bottles of wine for the reception. It was not distributed. Instead, everyone was served the house wine. It was only after the bride and her mom asked "Where is the wine that we ordered?" that the staff realized and literally said "Oh, is that why we have that wine?" They clearly missed the memo on that one. Another missed promise. Third, brunch the next morning. Took 90 minutes to get our food from placing the order. When the food came out, our table got the food one plate at a time. One person would get a plate, wait about 5 minutes, then another person would get a plate, wait another 5 minutes, etc, etc.. On the bright side, the food was great. Otherwise, the rooms are quite nice and the venue is beautiful. I would not recommend a wedding of over 70 people at this venue if you want a good sized dance floor.

Rooms and waiting area were clean and tidy. Very nice location with a great view of the Hudson River. Access road was a little small (could be easily missed on one's first time there). Service was, and is always, professional and quick.
