Story

Above the Pie Plate is a cozy, private accommodation housed in the former homestead of George Lawrence, one of the founders of Lawerenceville (later to be renamed the Village of Virgil).
Built in the late 1800's, the home still features wide plank wood floors, fieldstone foundation, antique furniture and light fixtures. Decorated with warm, vibrant colours in a French country style your host has created comfortable, relaxing atmosphere for guests to enjoy their stay. The private entrance landing has a cozy place to sit while watching the sunset or enjoying your morning cappuccino while taking in the aromas of the home bakery below.

Used to love this place, excellent food at a great price and a very summery, small cafe vibe. Food has gone up ridiculously in price (1 sandwich and 1 dessert cost 26$ now), very sad at how expensive the pizzas and salads are too now :( The renovation looks nice, however, I really do not like the new dark colour scheme. This place used to be cute and summery and bright cafe and now it just seems like its turning into a bar. I keep coming back because of how delicious the food and desserts are but I am heartbroken over the new look and unaffordable prices :(

Don’t be fooled: this is not a pie shop. It’s a pricy bar with a couple pies. Went in at 3pm. There were two pies. Staff were abrasive. Seating is mostly high (bar) tables. Vibe is loud.

Make sure you try the beef and beer hand pies, the pizza, and any of the dessert pies. Everything is excellent and the people are always super friendly.
