Best place to have Peking duck within NS! My boyfriend isn’t a soup person but he loves the duck soup. Bamboo boots in the duck stir fry make the flavour so fresh! Love love it! Customer service is also amazing. There was another family with two little kids, waitress was very patient to the kids :

A restaurant located on Bedford Highway specializing in Cantonese and Canadian Chinese dishes. The Xmas/NYE feast was a great value for money, with 7 different dishes and a soup. The food also came in compostable containers which is much more environmentally friendly than the styrofoam containers that many restaurants use. The taste of the dishes felt more catered towards the Canadian Chinese food with some food being more bland than usual salt pepper squid and some being way too flavourful the pepper in the pepper beef. Overall, good quality food and excellent presentation.

Restaurant is very clean & service was excellent. Food we had were freshly made, so yummy & priced right! It was beyond our expectations. Don’t hesitate to visit & eat lots!

We were three couples coming for a special occasion. We heard great things and followed recommendations from reviews. We ordered 7 dishes. The server we had was attentive.Unfortunately, the food ranged from disappointing to poorly prepared. Reviewers said they "best egg rolls in Halifax" but they were overfried and mushy inside. The barbecued pork was hard and dry. The ginger chicken had not a hint of ginger. The sweet and sour chicken was okay but nothing great. The salt and pepper shrimp were breaded OVER top of unpeeled shrimp. They were properly cooked once you removed the skin and batter but lacked any flavour. One spicy beef dish was tasty but the other beef dish was not memorable. I had called ahead to advise them that one person had some food allergies. After explaining the situation with details, I was told that there were many options and our friend would have no issues ordering off the menu. In the end, the only thing our friend could eat was fried rice. Her dish came with only a very few, small shrimp. There was too much onion in every dish and few other vegetables other than a sparce amount of tiny slices of red and green pepper. Overall, very expensive and a total disappointment.

Do not pass by this hidden gem on the Bedford Highway. I have never had an authentic Chinese food experience as I have at this restaurant. The food is incredible. everything tastes so fresh and made to order and do not get me started on the eggrolls. I will not ever eat another eggroll in this city unless it’s from the Orient. My wife and I have gone here on several occasions, and are extremely happy. Every time we leave the food excellent the service outstanding. you must go to the orient and give it a try for yourself. You will all see what I’m talking about.

We have been going to The Orient Restaurant for close to 8 years. The food is consistently delicious and no one can top Ivan’s egg rolls! The very best! Ivan and his staff are dedicated to preparing the best of Chinese Cuisine. Enjoy Vegetarian options: Can’t say I know much about vegan options Parking: In front of the restaurant.

First time there and it won't be the last! Could not have asked for better service, food. So much more I can't wait to try. We tried some of the most popular dishes and each was a definite hit. Friday's and Saturdays are crazy busy and reservations are recommended. Check out their menu as some dishes require advance ordering.Food: 5/5

From all the reviews I was expecting to be blow away. This place is seriously overpriced. You’ll have sticker shock when you first open the menu. Spring rolls were what you would call party size the ones you get from mnm. Smalllllll. We had one dish to try it as we’ve never been and the bulk was onions w a few other veggies thrown in. I would give it one star but the staff was friendly. Avoid at all costs

We are used to eating Pakistani/Indian style Hakka cuisine in Toronto/Mississauga, but since there is nothing similar in Halifax we decided to try the Orient. It was delicious, the shrimp and egg fried rice was the best I ever tried. We also tried the Spicy Fish Soup, which was delicious but we picked too high of a spice level 5. I recommend you start with level 1. We bought the soup home, removed all the chillis and flakes and added pineapples before we could finish it. Unfortunately, there are limited item we could try as we only eat seafood and vegetable, but I will return for sure :
