The Mufflerman

I bought a car in Toronto and was headed to Winnipeg with it. After leaving Toronto, I noticed a humming noise (wheel bearing) from the front right and I pulled off the highway and stopped in at this shop. I dealt with Bob and Greg and they were both extremely helpful, professional, and understanding of my situation. They offered me excellent advice and I was on my way! If you are looking for a great shop in the Cambridge area, I would highly recommend stopping in here!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO MUFFLERMAN (Cambridge) !! I WENT FOR A BRAKE CHECK AND LEFT THE LOT WITH LOSS OF BRAKES. PLEASE RE-POST TO ALL YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS YOU CARE ABOUT! (I typically do not take the time to write issues such as these, but I feel it is important enough to do so and everyone should know so not to go through what I went through at Mufflerman.) On Monday I took my car to Mufflerman in Cambridge, Ontario to have an oil change, tire change and brake check. I got a call about 1.5 hours later with the "go ahead" to come and pick up my car and that my brakes were fine. When I got in my car, the brakes went to the floor, but not being a technician, I assumed it had something to do with the inspection and they would be back to normal after a few pumps of the brakes. So I pull out the lot and the brakes still went to the floor, Eventually, my car actually wouldn't stop when they went to the floor. I had to pump them to stop. So I immediately turned around and took it back to Mufflerman in Cambridge. I went into the shop and spoke to the service associate and told him my brake weren't working. He immediately said to me "We didn't service your brakes." I then said back to him, "I requested a brake inspection and got a call saying they were ok." His response after that was" Your car was fine when we parked it." I proceeded to say "my brakes were working when I brought my car in, they are not working now." The service associate was not friendly at all and I could tell did not want to deal with me so I texted Dave, my husband, to come inside (as he had my 2nd set of tires in the truck outside). By this point the service associate said they would bring my car in and have a look at it. When my husband came into the shop he had us come out into the shop and look at my car. He showed a leaking brake line. He showed us that the bracket was corroded and that was what was causing the leak. He actually said that it was a "coincidence" that this happened, but it wasn't their fault, it was a corroded bracket. So out of desperation out of wanting to have my car back, I scheduled it for service to have the brake line fixed the next day. When I got home, the more I thought about what happened, the angrier I became. More so, because it was scary not having having any brakes after I just had a brake inspection; secondly, the way the service associate dealt with me. Basically, immediately not taking any fault. So I wrote to the Mufflerman head office telling them what happened and I had some questions for them. They were: 1) Was it a licenced technician who checked my brakes? 2) What is involved in their brake inspection (does it not include brake line checks? If the bracket was that corroded to cause a leak, why didn't they find that in the inspection)? 3) Was it a licenced technician who parked my car and diagnosed that the car was fine when it was parked? I then asked for my service to be cancelled as I was towing my car to another facility to have it fixed. It has been 3 days since this incident, and I have yet to hear anything back from Mufflerman head office or Mufflerman, Cambridge. I have off of work today so will be towing my car to another facility. So basically, Mufflerman in Cambridge did a brake inspection, told me my brakes were fine. When I got in my car, there was a leaking brake line. I was told my car was fine when they parked it. I emailed head office with my concerns of how I was dealt with and over their brake inspection procedure. It has been 3 days and I still haven't received a response. They got my communication because obviously no work has been done on my car since that email and I have not heard back from Mufflerman for 3 days. So this morning I'm getting my car towed and Mufflerman seems to be ok with all of this and simply doesn't respond to their customers.

Very, very helpful and fast. They were the most reasonable and honest mechanics I've ever been to. I'm a student and was afraid for bad news. They actually broke down what was most important to repair and the parts that were not super important. This allowed me to make informed decisions about my money. A+ work.

Not very good. No explanation of pricing on invoice, had an alignment done as well which they could not adjust 100% which I understand.. but what I don't understand is that it's worse than before now (pulling harder) and I didn't receive a discount or anything being as it couldn't have been adjusted 100%... other shops that I know of would have.. not even going to go back to complain, no need to waste anymore of my time there.

Looked at breaks to see why there was a click, charged 150+ for grease and grind as solution, 1 month later calipers went which was where the click was coming from. Good for oil change, bad for specific problems.
