There are many reasons to stop at The Modern Pantry: baked goods, unique breakfast buns, frozen and ready-to-bake pot pies and desserts, or just have a restful break in their outside patio. We needed to eat before getting on the ferry at Horseshoe Bay, so we stopped here and ordered a breakfast bun, grilled sandwich, two coffee drinks and a chocolate brownie. All the food we ordered were good. The breakfast bun was a savoury version of cinnamon bun with cheese and vegetables inside – very creative. Frozen ready-to-bake versions are even available. The frozen chicken pot pies looked really good, except I was told they would have garlic inside aarg!. They make their own jams and pasta sauces as well!
This bakery is a hidden gem. They make their goods fresh so you have really good and tasty croissants, rolls and pastries. The coffee is nice and not too acidic. But the real kicker is their patio which has a nice garden and view of the sea.Food: 5/5

Such a cool local spot!! Their baking is amazing, all of their food is 10/10. The thought and detail and love that goes into every part of what they do and sell really shows! Kendall the owner is amazing, a badass hard working mother who has really created a special spot! My mom and I did a cooking class with her and it was the most fun we’ve had in a while, we learned a lot of tips and tricks and went home with some amazing cookies that our family is still fighting over. The retail part of the store sells lots of really cool local goodies that after lots of browsing we also took home with us. And their cocktails were amazing one of the best mimosas I’ve ever had! one of our new favourite places : thank you Kendall!
The pastries aren’t buttery enough. The texture of the almond croissant is more like biscuit than croissant. The brown butter pear crostata is too sweet. The strata stuffing on the pop up menu is good.
This is a place I frequent regularly. It is a small, female owned business and their baking is extraordinary. The space is beautiful and clean and they have wonderful coffees and other drinks. Two gorgeous patios and wonderful staff. Croissants, brownie, pop tart, and focaccia are all worth trying!
I personally am not a big fan of places that are very quiet. It seems too quiet for me, even though I have tried saying greetings to the staff there a couple of times with two minutes chat while waiting for my coffee, I felt that I have to leave the station soon. It feels like I'm going to a library. However, if someone enjoys a quiet environment in West Vancouver, I highly recommend this place. I see many people doing their readings there, which makes it a great place to be!

The Modern Pantry, a warm inviting atmosphere with a quiet hum of voices and music, but no need to shout to be heard, always a seat available either inside or on the generous outside patios. Best coffee on the North Shore and I have tried most, the baking treats are deliciously displayed and equally enjoyable. Make sure to take home a loaf of sourdough bread.
