Story

The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre is a unique food and beverage emporium and Multi-Purpose Event Centre. The state of the art conference, banquet and meeting facility can accommodate upward of 1,000 persons while retaining the original look, feel and grandeur of the historic theatre.

Designed by famed architect C. Howard Crane, the Allen Theatre first opened its doors 1919 to the arrival of the Golden Age of Cinema. Designed in the sumptuous style of the era, this “Movie Palace” offered films along with a variety of live entertainment. Opulently decorated lounges allowed patrons to gather and socialize, as well as be entertained. After 68 years of operation, the Movie Theatre was closed in 1987. In 2012 Canad Inns reopened the doors and revealed the new Metropolitan Entertainment Centre.

I love that this building has been restored, renovated and purposed. It has the elegance and luxe from way back when and today's modern patio with a variety of seating.
Great view of whiteout street parties! 

Front entrance staff was welcoming. 
Service lacked greatly though. 
Not sure if they were short staffed but we had to order doubles to make up for the time it took (30-40 min) to see our server again. 
Server mentioned that they were having problems with their debit/credit machines causing delays.
Bathrooms also lacked servicing, garbage overflowed, paper towels were strewn about but this could be as a result of the all the traffic of people from the whiteout street party.

Great place to grab a drink on the roof top patio or watch the Jets playoff games on their giant screen.

Our group of 30 people watched the game vs the Wild. Had private booths to ourselves on the 2nd balcony with our own servers and the buffet was amazing. They have to promote this more for only $30 it's a deal!

Fantastic Heritage restoration with amazing interior decorative plaster and woodwork. Very comfortable size but with ample room for many types of events. Food and bar service.

A lack luster business in which has zero consideration for their customers. Went to an event on Friday in which a large group of people, including very close friends of mine ending up stuck in the venues elevator and proceeded to be stuck in there for over an hour. 

The venue felt no need to contact emergency personnel and allowed them to be stuck in the elevator while it was very hot and compact so they could instead contact an elevator technician and have him open the door. 

After being advised multiple times the tech would be arriving he had yet to show, this led to those in the elevator calling 911 out of their own fear for their safety, being stuck in an elevator for that long. 

Once the fire personnel arrived they were advised they weren't going to be allowed to enter into the elevator as per the business and had to wait around with the rest of us. 

A business that chooses it's cosmetic appearance over the safety and concerns of it's patrons is sad really and I would never attend another event here. 

The management team fell very short, wasting everyone's time that evening and felt no need to take the appropriate actions.

Will always inform everyone I encounter of the terrible business practices being taken place at the MET. 

If I could give 0 stars I would, believe me.
