The Keg Steakhouse + Bar

I’ve reviewed the Keg a few times in a couple of cities and with different items, but I think it’s one of the greatest restaurants in Ottawa and it’s definitely worth the praise. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m addicted, and will continue to go back. This time I tried the Parmesan lobster in addition to my usual bone-in rib, and it’s yet another tasty meal. The service here has always been exceptional but this particular time we had the help of a young gentleman who made it his job to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction. I understand that I am not the easiest patron to deal with, but when the waiting staff treats me right, I make sure to do all I can to show my appreciation. In this case I asked to speak to the manager to let him know how excellent the food was and how great the staff have been in accommodating us, as they gave us a reservation during a week day but were very flexible and helped us a lot, calling us multiple times and changing things around for us. It was a party of six, and they gave us the best possible seats and made all six of us feel welcomed and appreciated. I will always feel good about dining at the Keg, but this particular location is an ace in my book.

Have been here several times, most recently on NYE 2017. The service was outstanding and the staff went above and beyond for us: we had forgot our leftovers on the table and left after our meal was finished. I returned to pick them up but was told by the manager that they were thrown out. The manager insisted he make entirely new (and full) plates and also gave me some espresso on the house. The steak was cooked to perfection (both times) and the atmosphere was on point. Much respect!

Nice atmosphere, nice complementary warm bread, staff are very polite and professional. Most of the steaks were cooked properly (mine was a little overcooked), but the food took a while to come out of the kitchen. The manager came to the table and spoke with one of our guests who has a food allergy. Manager addressed all concerns in a very polite and professional way. The roasted chicken was very good, and the sesame tuna was pretty good but again it was a little overcooked. Overall it was a good experience.

The shrimp cocktail was amazing that's why they get one star, but the rest was way below average especially for the price. The steak was tough and side were nothing special. My fiance had to send fries back... Who messes up fries? The waitress was not good. I get some people have bad days but she was not happy at all.

We eat at The Keg a few times a year. Our last visit was on Boxing Day and it was mentioned when we made the reservation that we had a guest in our party that has Celiec. When we arrived they were very accommodating to the needs and having the manager come to the table to confirm the order and to make sure that the kitchen knew. It was very nice to have a business take a medical need seriously.
