The Java Hut Cafe

This place is a local favourite that is often overlooked. Their staff is very friendly and helpful - even going as far to try and remember our names when we come back. Their food is great for a rainy day when you're just looking for a filling soup and sandwich combo. Give them a try and you'll soon be a regular too.

I have been frequenting this place almost every day for the past couple of weeks before work to grab breakfast. The food is decent, that hasn't changed. What was new today is that I had already had breakfast at home and needed somewhere dry and warm to sit while waiting for work to start. So I sat down in the corner at the front by the window for a while just browsing my phone. After a while the Asian lady (owner?) comes up to me and asks me if I'm waiting for someone. I said no, just sitting by myself waiting for work to start at 9. She then informed me that "this is not your place, you can't sit here. You have to get something or leave." These were her exact words. I was shocked. This was the first time in weeks I had not bought something here but I was there because it's a nice place to sit quietly. There was no one else in the store, and I was not bothering anyone. "Really? I can't sit here for a while?" I was genuinely surprised at her. "No, get something or leave." "Oh, ok. I guess I won't come back then." "Yeah, whatever!" She snapped at me and walked away. Wow. I was really taken aback at this whole interaction, and it made me pretty upset. I am sad to be alienated from this breakfast place, but if I am not allowed to sit there for a while the one time I don't buy anything then they obviously don't need my business.

Em Kay ,, are you kidding ? you can't just sit in a restaurant and not order anything. being asked to leave for loitering would be normal at any restaurant Java is amazing , i love this place.

Good fresh sandwiches and soup. Way better than Subways next door. Friendly service as well.
