The Hub at Holiday Inn

We were staying in Saskatoon for the cheer competition held in Warman that weekend as my daughter is on a special abilities cheer team that were going to be performing on the Saturday. The entire cheer club was booked in at a special rate, but unfortunately I missed the cut off date and when I booked it was $100 more. We live over 6 hours away and I wasn’t sure if we would be able to attend, so I waited until I was sure before booking. At the time of checking in I asked if it was possible to get the club rate figured I would ask seeing as how I’m a “valued” loyal member and I booked a standard 2 queen room, same as what was blocked for the team however the front desk lady said no. Good news however, they did allow for an early check in which was greatly appreciated. My daughter and I had lunch at the restaurant located in the hotel and the food was phenomenal - I highly recommend going there! After an afternoon of swimming we decided to order from the restaurant again and I ordered supper to take up to our room. We ate what we could and planned on saving the rest in the fridge for the next day. We put the food in the fridge and headed back down to the pool. When we got back I opened the fridge and discovered that it wasn’t working. I called the front desk and was told to pull it out and change the settings on the back. I wasn’t comfortable doing this, but did it anyway as I didn’t want to waste the food delicious but also pricey as well as the food/snacks we brought ourselves. I tried to adjust the settings but it didn’t help. About 40 minutes later a lady staff member came to our room and pulled the fridge out and tried to adjust it but it didn’t work. She tried plugging it in another outlet but that didn’t help either. She left saying she would have someone check the breaker?…..I waited for about an hour but no one came or called and I was exhausted so I went to bed. It was disappointing that I knew all of our food was going to be wasted. The next morning around 9:00am a maintenance man opened our room door I had the deadbolt out realized we were there and said “oh, sorry!!” closed the door right away and started to walk away. I opened the door and asked him if needed anything, and he said he was there about the fridge. I invited him in to look at it and he said “I will have to replace it, do you need it right away” to which I replied “no, I needed it last night”. He left apologizing saying he would have it replaced for the next guest. I called the front desk to ask if we could check out an hour late, they said no. Okay, I will move all of our stuff to a friends room for an hour before we were leaving. After raving about the restaurant to friends we all decided to go there for breakfast…I went to the front desk to check out and mentioned the fridge situation and the girl working the front desk was very unapologetic and told me “you should have brought your food down here and we could have put it in the fridge down here”, to which I replied “I wasn’t offered that option, I wasn’t aware I could do that”. She seemed annoyed at me and said “for your inconvenience I won’t charge you for parking” $15.00 value and without another word told me I was all checked out and to have a good day. She wasn’t interested in what I had to say, she just brushed me off completely. I looked behind me thinking there may have been a long line of people waiting to be served and that’s why she was rushing but there was no one behind me. Overall the room was nice, the restaurant was awesome, but the front desk customer service was poor and the price/treatment during the stay is enough to definitely make me consider staying at another hotel chain. Holiday Inn has always been my go to, but there are many options out there.

This hotel is my go to when staying in Saskatoon. The desk staff are always super friendly and willing to help, they have an amazing restaurant, everything is very clean and well kept. They have several levels of indoor heated parking, although that does cost extra. A very short walk to the Midtown Plaza. The location makes it great for visiting anything downtown. Very nice hotel for a reasonable price. It will continue to be my go to when visiting Saskatoon
