Went for an early dinner 430ish and had maybe a couple minute wait to get a table for 4. Ordered the snow crab cluster, mussels and a scallop to try. All tasted super fresh and were done perfectly. Not pictured I also tried my friends calamari and tuna tartar and both of those were also fabulous. Service was relatively quick. Would definitely go back
If you’re like us, walking along the beautiful harbour looking for the best spot… THIS IS IT!!! Stop, wait a minute, and go get the best seafood and tasty dinner you’ve been looking for!! Such an amazing little spot off the harbour with the view of the ocean the wraps along around you. Outdoor dining or patio ocean view it can’t be beat. The people whom work there are kind, happy, and all around just awesome service. Now to the best part the food!! The menu full of delicious paired items, and a selection of seafood options you’ve been looking for. No matter what you choose on the menu it’ll be the best of what you chose no matter where you go. The food comes out fresh, and beautifully plated one would wanna shed a tear it’s so incredible. We chose a few items off the menu as shown in the photos, to which didn’t last long after we ate them so fast. The clams and oysters were a hit for our party and what appeared to be also the case for many around us. We chose the scallop linguini, which features giant and juicy scallops, delicious and rich sauce on a bed of pasta. The seafood chowder which was full of all the best seafood, excellent flavour and a great choice on an over cast day. And last but definitely not least was the tacos. Many wouldn’t think tacos seeing all the other awesome choices of seafood, but stay with me. The tacos, given 4 choices also cater to many different taste buds and also those like myself who live for them. I had chosen the quesadilla one which came in a fresh corn tortilla stuffed with gooey rich cheese, and pan fried seasoned mushrooms. I also grabbed one fish taco, which came with a tasty piece of fish, fresh pickled cabbage topped with the perfect sauce. I could go on and on about the food, the flavours, the amazing staff… but if you’re down in this areas the view on the patio can be beat. Coming from Alberta to see the ocean and experience the food, as well as the culture. This my friend was a treat!!!
My partner and I had lunch here, and overall found it underwhelming versus other reviews. That said, it is a finer dining spot versus other quicker lunch options, if you’re looking for that atmosphere. For food, we’d recommend the Seafood Chowder lighter cream with perfect amount of dill; needed some salt and Oyster Rockefeller. The steamed half lobster was well priced, but nothing special. The raw oyster was just that, whereas I was expecting some finish to elevate it. The grilled oyster with tomato is not recommended, nor is the calamari. The calamari in particular was not enjoyable. Their toasted coconut drink daily special was delicious thought!
My husband and I are in Lunenberg for our honeymoon. We found this restaurant online and just had to try it!! We had an amazing dinner last night, I’m not sure what our servers name was but he was excellent and extremely friendly! We originally we’re sitting up overlooking the ocean but the wind picked up and we moved to sit down at the tables across from the bar. All the tables around us were friendly, The couple beside us also picked up our bill, I couldn’t believe it, I wish I knew their names, so I could thank them a million more times. they were so sweet!! The food was AMAZING, we had one of each taco as an app, the fish taco was to die for. I had the salmon and by husband had the seafood platter. Everything was perfect, also try the ‘paid vacation’ cocktail. I wish I got the recipe, it was the best drink I’ve ever had! Do yourself a favour and eat here. Between the staff, the food, and the other patrons. You will have the best time! Plus their patio is dog friendly. How can you not enjoy yourself! We will be back next time we are in the area for sure!!
Could be the best seafood I've ever had. Shared the Lobster platter, also had Calamari, Mussels, Raw Scallop. Everything tasted amazing. Very nice beer selection. Everything from the oysters, clams, prawns, crab tasted great and accompanying sauces accompanied them all nicely. Calamari cooked perfectly, mussels tasted great. Wish I could have had more dishes. Prices not cheap but reasonable for what you get and the amazing quality of the food and awesome patio. This place can get busy but it is worth the wait.
Very friendly service and the food is good. Wait times reflect this. They will take your phone number and call so you can enjoy the waterfront while you wait which is nice. There was a mix up with the two daily special drinks on our visit but they took care of it when we pointed it out.
The seafood plater was so fresh and delicious. Would love to go back again. Same owner owns this and the next door restaurant Fish Shack. Waiters and waitresses were very friendly.
We had our first meal at The Half Shell Oysters &Seafood right after we arrived to Nova Scotia from the West and no other meals could beat this on the rest of our trip. Seafood are so fresh! Beautiful view. Our family absolutely love it! On our last day from PEI to NS airport, we even thought of driving five hours to Lunerberg to eat in this restaurant again before we depart. We will definitely go back again!
Excellent food and well worth the wait gave our name to the waitress and they text you when a table is ready. The seafood tower has a great variety: oysters, clams, crab, lobster, etc. My 11 year old loved the salmon with roasted potatoes. The chowder has a creamy texture and a hint of dill. And the mussels in white wine sauce and garlic were very tasty.
Absolutely delicious fresh seafood and flash fried calamari. Only complaint is the size of the calamari was trés petite but we are in a recession and shrinkflation be a real thing. Oh well, really enjoyed our lunch here! Loved all the sauces that accompanied the seafood platter - hope to see you again in the future Half Shell
