"The Elbow Room and Tap Room is one of West Hartford’s oldest restaurants, first opening its doors in 1997. We have since prided ourself on serving upscale comfort food, including the famous ER Mac n Cheese. Known for out lively rooftop patio and comedy club, Elbow Room boasts 50 rotating draft beers, great wine selection, and all of the great comfort classics. ER is definitely the place for friends to gather and families to relax."

Having the perfect location and a terrace, I thought we were up for a treat, little did we know that the place what’s going to be awful, the food, installations, Although I have to say that the service was pretty good. I hope the owner reads this and does something about this because it’s just a waste of a perfect place that could be so much better. Have you seen a pina colada with that color or calamari that looks like a fried plastic bag????
Overview: I was very excited to try this restaurant on our anniversary, and boy did we make a mistake. This place should not deserve my time for the review, they should pay me for this review for how horrible it was. I have never said this before about a restaurant, but this was the worst food I've had in years. Food: The food here is limited in terms of menu size and that's perfectly fine. What's Not fine is when the items on the menu taste like you're licking skin. You have a small menu, every single item should be unique and full of flavor. This is the opposite here. - We ordered the cheese curds as an app, that was a mistake. The waitress told us they have been out for days, and would check. She informed us they have some and we proceed ordering. 10 minutes later we get 10 mozz sticks. Yes, mozzarella sticks. Not cheese curds and even the waitress was like 'these look like mozz sticks but they look good!'. Were they good? Eh. If you like freezer food oh ya. We were starving, so they were good. They were clearly freezer bag food mozz sticks. - We ordered fajita bowls, one veggie, one chicken. I can't explain this any other way than this: make overly cooked minute rice, frozen sliced peppers, corn, black beans, onion then add day old avocado slices slightly browned slices with avocado crema sauce barely any and that's what you get. 0 seasoning, 0 flavor. The most bland food you could get from boxed/bagged goods. At least you get a large portion. Service: - Was checked up on once, waitress was patient with us as we figured out what we wanted. - One glass of water for the entire time we were there and was only offered more water AFTER we paid the bill. No stops checking in if we needed more or offering it with half a glass left. - Waitress came over asking us how the food was while she was still eating food and was chewing in front of us. Atmosphere: - If you want to hear your stereotypical 20s white women wearing a north face, ripped up jeans bicker about diets and Chad men that gave them a good night, this is your spot. - It seemed to be very dead in the middle of a busy day for ever other restaurant. - For such a dead restaurant why was it so hard to get beyond excellent service? - I don't think I've had such an unsettling experience at a restaurant before with such subpar food; food that poor me in college could make way better, and that's saying a lot.
Long story short: SLOWEST service ever, served us A ROTTEN dessert, and they didn’t even care to take it of the check, and tried to charge us for a dessert that was SOLD OUT and we didn’t get??? They did not care at all and didn’t try to give us anything, just a cold apology!
Went here for dinner and drinks. I got a margarita which was way too sweet - it was undrinkable. There were also no good vegan options which wasn’t super surprising - but I figured I would just snack on some french fries while my friends ate dinner. The french fries were $7 for an extremely small portion that could fit in the palm of my hand. Although I don’t eat meat - I am not super picky about places to eat, but this place was not good.
Me and my friends love the elbow room, Ashley is our favorite and we come in every Thursday to see her, can’t wait until she’s back from leave!
I’ve never left a review before but I felt like I needed to give this place the attention and respect it deserves. I absolutely love the vibe and the bar and the bartenders. The attention these girls gave us, along with their hysterical personalities literally made our night and kept us there for hours longer than we planned on staying. I don’t know what their names are but the girl with the dreads and the blonde girl with braids did such a good job of not only taking care of us but took care of everyone else while giving smiles and cracking jokes. The drinks were great but a little expensive and the bar itself was chill and laid back and overall welcoming. My friends and I will certainly be coming back.
Decent Bar ! Good bar with many varieties of Beers and Cocktails on the menu with decent Music and screens ! Food was tasty and beers and cocktails tasted good but the girl who served us was grumpy and didnot have patience to listen and was yelling literally . Other than that we had good experience at the place.
Cool atmosphere. Great drinks. Only problem was that the restaurant ran out of a few appetizers and dinner options during dinner. The appetizers they did have like the Buffalo cauliflower and pretzel were good though. For dinner, I got the teriyaki salmon bowl which was.... okay. Salmon portion was small and overcooked. Rice was dry. Also, the bathrooms weren't well kept. Both bathrooms ran out of toilet paper and weren't very clean.
I have been to the Elbow Room many times over the years and I find it to be consistently good. It's hard to maintain consistent quality and they have pulled it off. I like to sit outside in front and people watch while having dinner. They make an excellent cheeseburger and their prices are fair. The atmosphere is casual but you wouldn't feel out of place if you were dressed up. I'll be back.
Went and saw a comedy show here. Giancarlo Biondino was headlining and he was one of the most gifted people I've ever seen. I would give this place 5 stars but I can't because he is not always there. On the nights he is, it is 5 stars and on the nights he isn't I rate it 4 stars because I can't even give a fair rating because when I'm there and he isn't all I do is dream about him and I don't even pay attention to anything else. I think i remember enjoying the grilled cheese and my friends tell me the service was professional and friendly, I was just having a hard time because the greatest living comedian wasn't there to tell me his award winning jokes.
