The Coopers Tavern is the best bar on the square. The food is delicious, there are so many excellent drink options, and the employees are nice and attentive. I love coming here - it is one of my favorite places in Madison! Not only is it an excellent bar, it also has a space for events on the second floor. Highly recommend anyone in Madison to visit this place.
The food was delicious and they give you large portions. I had the Reuben on rye and a salad. The best ever. I went back the next day and ordered it again. The service was top notch. Definitely a must visit if you're visiting.
Had an enjoyable Father's Day dinner at Cooper's Tavern. The weather was perfecto for outside dining. Service was very attentive. The beer selection spot on. Cheers
Family friendly restaurant located right at the steps of the capitol building! Yummy food, great service, and decent prices. There is outdoor and indoor seating available. Staff is super friendly -- definitely recommend their cheese curds!
All was excellent! From service, beginning with our excellent server, Claire, to decor. While individual tested vary, it's undeniable that the owner and chef are aiming for an elevated standard! The dishes were high-quality versions of classic pub fare: Reuben sandwich with house brined sauerkraut, turkey club with thick slices of on-site roasted turkey, and fish and chips made with generous pieces of beer battered cod and the best fries I've had lately: thin, crispy, crunchy, matchstick style. We had the pretzel and the cheese curds for starters, and both were good, the pretzel more so, with a little bit unusual breading not batter on the curds. Shout-out to Claire, who was super helpful with recommendations, and happened to be from our neighboring town in another state, so it was a treat to talk with her!
Cheese curds were top notch! The salad had way too much dressing but overall it was good. The turkey sandwich was exceptional!
We had an excellent visit. We started the meal with superb drinks all thanks to the recommendations of our spectacular waiter michael. He was so knowledgeable about the menu and service was so fast! We will gladly come again, but only if Michael is our server!
Got the Irish Bangers. Didn't know what an Irish banger was. Tried them and it was tasty, but didn't think it was worth the cost. Cheese curds were top tier. Tried some of the chips off my friend's plate and they sucked. So bland, no seasoning and very dry.
The person who was seating us was very pushy with wearing a mask. My wife and I were in the process of getting them on and he was demanding we put them on before we even talked to him. I’m really trying to be considerate but service was insanely slow. Our server visited our table 3 times. Order drinks and food, deliver food and bring the check after I had to go ask for the check. Food was very oily and salty. Not a great experience.
Good food, good service, and good atmosphere. I ordered the Cooper burger, cheese curds, an old fashioned, and crème brûlée.
