My wife and I joined Rolf for a full day Knight Inlet tour in July, and it was phenomenal. Absolutely the highlight of our honeymoon in Canada. Rolf was very welcoming and knowledgeable, and made sure we had the best wildlife viewing opportunities possible. Not long into the tour, Rolf brought us to a small island where we got the most incredible view of a young grizzly bear, who remained in view for the best part of a mesmerising hour. It was something we will never forget. We also saw a couple more bears, as well as many dolphins, seals, whales and more. As well as the wildlife, he also showed us some breathtaking scenery including beautiful waterfalls. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing or photographing some of the most amazing scenery and wildlife Canada has to offer.
Great Place to stay and go off for awesome whale and bear watching tours with the owner Rolf. Highly recommended
Translated by Google After long preparations and delays caused by the pandemic, we were lucky enough to be able to spend 5 days at Artists Point in July 2022. As a family of four, we were able to stay in spacious rooms on the upper floor of the house. The water view is already inspiring and the first photos of the local white-tailed eagle pair were taken before unpacking..., there were also unusually moving birds in the garden for us: hummingbirds - a separate project, but then only the older son had energy because the planned and completed excursion program was just as challenging as it was grandiose. As soon as we arrived, Rolf had warned us about the wild animal sightings we were hoping for because of the stormy weather conditions and the early tide changes. Our 3 day tours to Knight Inlet, Broughton Archipelago and the Seaotter Tour were each unique nature experiences and peppered with diverse sightings of all hoped-for animal species, probably also because of the respective departure at dawn. The photographic selection is terrific, today, 6 weeks later, I'm still overwhelmed by the experiences after I've viewed all the pictures. A highlight was certainly the approach of a school of orcas to the boat, which was initially drifting away, with acoustic accompaniment through the transmission of the whale song using Rolf's underwater microphones on the ship's deck. We had not dared to hope that such an encounter would be repeated in the course of the next few days. We got to know Rolf as a very generous and knowledgeable host and as a very prudent and respectful boat driver towards nature and the wild animals we sought out. As ambitious amateur photographers, we felt excellently guided by him. However, the non-photographing half of the family never missed out. The culinary supply with breakfast and daily fresh and changing lunchtime snacks from our own garden were extremely tasty and extensive, so that we quickly learned to appreciate Rolf's German-Argentinian country team André and UG. In addition, as a family with two boys aged 13 and 14, we enjoyed the family interaction with the Hicker Boys and Sarah. The campfire with barbecue in the evening before departure was another highlight. Then there were the nocturnal deer visits in the garden documented on the game camera the son brought with him, bear tracks on the property, Devils Brew with sauerkraut pizza in Port McNeill, the trip to Cormotant Island on the rest day.... We hope to come back!
