Have stayed at the American several times in the last several years. Never disappointed. Garth and Doug (or Doug and Garth), the proprietors are delightful. This quaint little town in upstate is off the beaten path, but beat a path there, if you can. Great food in the dining room (not inexpensive, nor should it be given it's excellence). Nice breakfast service for Hotel guests. Rooms are smallish, but comfortable, clean and historic. George, the bartender, is an entertainer. This is a perfect place for Glimmerglass Opera goers, autumn leave viewers and anyone who loves upstate. The best!

Never actually stayed over at this great quaint spot. But the restaurant is top-notch. And our hosts, Doug and Garth... well they're fabulous. A must-try for a special dining experience in Sharon Springs.

Good food and service. Needs new menu choices. Parking is on gravel. Bathrooms are clean. Owners are nice people. Building looks grand :).
