I really enjoyed our dining experience here. The servers were attentive, and the food arrived quickly. The food itself was great. Quality ingredients cooked well <3 Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals. The ambience was also pretty chill. Definitely worth it to try, and I hope to come back next time I'm in Montreal.
Simple food, fresh ingredients, done right. Everything was really tasty and the service was exceptional! A little bit on the pricier side but definitely a go-to place for a relaxing night out with friends.
Stunning quality food, brilliant service. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food is top drawer. I had a mixture of dishes and I would struggle to pick my favourite! Not the cheapest eat, but wonderful. Will be back again hopefully. Totally worth it!
Great service, staff are kind and quick! Hostess was very nice and welcoming. Atmosphere felt more like a fast food in and out vibe than sit and dine cuisine. Good meals that are more traditional than western with a few unique touches.Food: 3/5
This restaurant just opened and we decided to try it out. The tempura don was my favourite as it had such a variety of vegetables and the shrimp was very big and meaty. We ordered the oysters as our appetizer and it had such a clean and balanced flavour. The cold duck udon was good but not my favourite. The curry was also well made and had a deep curry flavour but a little too salty. The soba was nice and refreshing. The service was fast and friendly. They gave us great recommendations and I’ll definitely be coming back to try the wagyu carpaccio. I would highly recommend this resto if you are looking for somewhere with amazing Japanese food and good vibes.
Great food, easily the best tempura I’ve had in Montreal. Well worth its price. Imo it’s pretty underrated as a restaurant. Could be that it’s because I went on a weekly night, but the place was very much not busy at all, had like 3 table in total. Given the quality of the food I wont be surprised that it’s packed even on a regular weekday. Tho to be fair the location isn’t terribly great, it’s a bit too well hidden from the outside, didn’t know the place existed if not for a friend that lives right next door, despite me studying close to this place and walking past the street very often. TLDR: Recommend and would come back again.
Lovely staffs offering an amazing experience. Will definitely come back with friends. Love the ambiance and music.
Cozy environment, tables are not next to each other so you can talk comfortably. Special menu is the best in terms of food quality and quantity, would highly recommend to try. Shrimp tempura tasted really special and was big shrimp. You could taste a lot of meat in the cheese pork cutlet but the sauce was a bit salty and there was too much red ginger. My friend tried the dry udon but the udon itself was really bland. In general, it was a great experience despite finding a really small hard ball shape in my curry but they didn't charge it.
4.5 Tempura Kyodai is a cute restaurant with great atmosphere and excellent food and service. Let's start with their specialty, the tempuras. They were excellent. I truly recommend the Ebi tendon which is a bowl of tempura featuring fried shrimps and veggies on rice. The soft shelled crab curry is up there too. It's the best Japanese curry I have eaten. It's not too sweet and the spices is pronounced enough. Then, there is the Soba. It's a simple dish, but it's done right. It's very elegant and light, perfect for summer time. The flavours are really balanced here. The last but not least, the mackerel udon. During winter, who can resist it? The broth is light but so complex. The udon are thin but chewy. And the grilled mackerel complement it well. Other than main dishes, they have appetizers and specials of the day. Like the Ebi tempura or the monk fish liver. All are delicious. Overall, Tempura Kyodai deserve their name. Everything was delicious and it's not expensive. You get a huge main for around 20$ or less. We will be coming back for sure!
*updated Oct-22* I’m rather disappointed that they weren’t able to maintain consistency. We ordered the tendon tempura with rice and this time the batter was a lot thicker. It also tasted a lot more oily. You will see from the newly added pictures that they look different from the first ones. I also tried their curry which was a bit too salty. It was difficult to finish it. I really hope they can get back to their initial standard because I enjoyed a lot the first time around. —————— Since this restaurant recently opened, we were lucky to get seated right away without lining up. I’m confident that it won’t take long before we have to wait in long line before getting in. Food, service and ambiance are execellent. My friends and I are fans of raw dishes therefore we ordered most of their raw appetizers. However, their tempura are a must as stipulated by the restaurant name! I’m usually not fans of fried food, but their batter is light, flaky and not overly oily in the mouth, simply scrumptious! Among the appetizers, my favourite is the oyster carpaccio. Although the oyster is huge, it didn’t taste fishy at all and served in a citrusy sauce giving the dish a very balanced flavor. It is something I never had anywhere else. The A5 wagyu are thinly sliced and sit on a truffle cream sauce underneath. The truffle cream sauce is excellent but it covers the beef’s flavor. The bird nest of the tuna tataki is also accompanied by the same sauce which I find the combination a lot better. The mille feuille salmon is good but the foie gras piece is quite small and the taste of it is rather inedible. The homemade potatoe korrokke is very good. Portion is also very generous too. This definitely needs to be shared. I haven’t tried their curry but it smelled really good. Would definitely go back for it.
