I love TD Bank, but do your best to avoid this particular branch and its lazy and ignorant employees. According to an employee at this branch, if you give someone Power of Attorney (PoA) over your account, you'll need them to join you to the bank to revoke this PoA. That means that if you fire or replace your lawyer, you'll need the fired lawyer to join you there in person so you can regain full control over your account again. Seriously? At one point she even suggested it would be easier to close my TD account and open a new one at, say, CIBC just to get rid of the PoA... Of course, the issue was resolved (without hauling in any fired lawyers) by going to a Toronto TD branch, where the employees are better trained and have some common sense. As it turns out, the clueless made-up rule applied to _joint_ accounts, where all signatories must approve a change, not to PoA assignments which are, of course, revocable by the account owner. I think the Oakville branch's employees should get a bonus--from CIBC.

Terrible customer service. Tellers are not knowledgeable or helpful.
