Taza is one of the best places for falafel in the loop. They are crisp and and moist with excellent flavor. Also, the charbroiled chicken and hummus is perfect. Go here if you want a cheap and fresh meal.
Great sandwiches and bowls packed with fresh falafel, chicken shawarma, and gyro meat! My sandwich looked so appetizing that I forgot to take a picture until I was a couple of bites in already. The food was incredible and made even better by generous and exemplary service. The owner was extremely nice and made the whole experience a great finish after a long day of walking around Chicago. I only wish I had one back home!
Friendly, clean, and delicious. I picked this spot out of the blue and I was surprised and delighted. I ordered the chicken shawarma and the tabbouli salad it was refreshing and flavorful. You definitely want to try this place
I had to meet with a group late one evening and wanted to get some dinner. After looking at the restaurants in the area, i found Taza Cafe was open late in the evening and serves decent middle eastern food. The place is easy to miss as it is surrounded by other restaurants and eateries. The shawarma is ok though the chicken tasted a bit bland even with the hot sauce. They use a pita pocket for sandwiches and it gets messy after a couple of bites. The fillings are simply too much and tend to burst out of the pocket from top and bottom. Be prepared with a few more paper napkins to mop up and remember to keep your sandwich and your mouth over the plate. The gent behind the counter is nice and friendly and was busy with many call in orders from apps. Vegetarian options: Falafel, hummus and other vegetarian options like salads.
The worst shwarma I ever had. Chicken was just cooked in turmeric and not roasted on the fire. Tasted really bad. Nothing like shwarma. I would have called it rice with cooked chicken. Don’t go to this place expecting a good Mediterranean food.
Great lunch spot! I always have the chicken falafel combo with rice, salad, pita and hummus, I like to pair it with tahini and hot sauce, I love the flavors of everything and I find it filling and healthy for a work lunch spot. Staff is friendly.
Best falafel I've had in Chicago hands down @tazacafechicago The Loop, Chicago Made with so much LOVEEE , this Mediterranean spot is super low key but been around for 13 years! Come in for platters , order catering for your office, group order with your office sharing a , or even grab a quick dinner after work in the loop All the food is made daily by Hamza originally from Jordan. He gets in about 5-6am before the 10:30am lunch period begins. We got the below plates, all of their popular items that comes with fluffy dill basmati rice so good!, Creamy Hummus + pita, and a cucumber tomato Mediterranean salad: Taza Combo Chicken Shawarma & Gyro Chicken Kabob & Falafel combo Falafel salad Their falafels are the BEST I've had in Chicago so far. hamza makes 500-2000+ of them daily They're fried fresh so they're super crunchy Packed with flavor with chickpeas, garlic, coriander, spices like cumin, s&p Make sure to get the assorted baklava. They're also made fresh in Chicago by a partner . They're so crispy, not too sweet, and filled with a variety of nuts! So dang good. They've started to extend their hours till 8pm and are closed Saturday and Sundays. Check it out! More videos and reviews on Instagram @midwestmunching Sponsored
I've been going to Taza Cafe for over 4 years now - it's one of my favorite spots to go for lunch downtown. Their food is always fresh, portions are very generous, and the prices are fair. They have an awesome staff and they are all very kind. I love their meal plates, the Turkey plate is my personal favorite, with the chicken shawarma at a close second. Every time I want to get a taste of my Sitti's home cooking while I'm at work, this is where I go! Some of the best Mediterranean food in the loop.
Really delicious; I got chicken shawarma over rice with tahina, and while usually I'm not the hugest fan of chopped salad, their version was great and I was getting at the last bits of it with my fork. On my way out I went to buy a mango juice and the guy at the counter said I could just take it, super nice dude. Vegetarian options: Among other things, a lentil soup and a vegetarian platter with either falafels or dolmas
Pretty straight forward kebab place. All food is made fresh and portion is nice. Food is not over seasoned and the platters are pretty filling. Comfortable seating and decorated motif. Falafel were made to order. Hummus was smooth as silk and I like they used sumac spice on top of the food which gave a nice accent of flavors. All food was delicious and sauces were unique and plentiful! Deserts were really good and made with real butter! Great place to pick up great food at a good price!
