Taverne On The Square

This is my favorite spot in the city. I have always been welcomed here with so much love and I am so grateful for the experience the staff gives me every time. Not to mention it's the best food. Only the best to say. Thank you Tavern! Love you all!

The atmosphere is nice and the place is clean and well kept. The service was mediocre but I cannot complain too much because the place was full. Drinks were over the top expensive, especially for what they give you. They charge cocktail prices that you would expect to see at a signature cocktail venues like Le Lab, or 4ieme Mur etc but they are seriously below par. Out of the 10 people at our table only 1 person enjoyed their meal, they rest complained that not only was the food bad (and over salted) but that it was too expensive for the quantity. Overall very lackluster, I will not be returning.

hahahahah if you say this is your favourite spot in the city than you have very little taste in good food. I ordered the salmon tartar and it tasted purely of salt and lemon juice. I honestly don't know how the chefs could send that dish out to a customer (it was 22$ for a small portion as well!). Then I had the burger and asked for it medium and it came out medium rare at the least. the restaurant is very overpriced for its layout and service ( the waitress didn't know the specials). very bad experience.

The Tavern restaurants leave a lot to be desired. Westmount Square, a lovely setting with very helpful and kind wait staff, features the over priced and dull menu. Like too many Montreal places, there is no decent vegetarian option--I fail to see how this can be hard. Some kind of inspired tofu and vegetable dish, a decent salad that is nourishing with nuts and maybe eggs, not heavy pastas laden with cheeses and possibly meat stock. Wine portions are rather small, prices are quite high. The waiters, however, are always very, very handsome. Sadly, in the west-end we don't have nicer restos and the Taverns tend to dominate eating out locations. I find myself there about twice a year shocked by the bare menu, the high prices, and the tiny wine glasses.

Paul Paul Paul ! I was there yesterday. What a pleasure, my friends, the food, you loll From the moment I have walked in to when we left, everybody was extremely nice. Excellent service and food. One of my top 5 restaurant experiences in my half century lol Will definitely be back. See you !
