Taqueria El Chefe

They have the best tasting Birria taco in the city. Believe me! Meat was very tender, savoury, a little kick of spice and flavourful, complimented by the delicious burrows broth in the side. I added cheese on mine to add some texture and flavour to my taco and it didn’t disappoint. Only bad issue that I experienced was that it took exactly 42mins for my order to come. I saw a couple of customers were waiting for that long too with their birria order. I understand they’re trying their best to make as authentic and delicious as possible and I applaud that. But 30-40min wait time is too long a 3pcs taco. I’d order again next time, but using food delivery app.

I had the birria tacos which I highly recommend. The other tacos were delicious as well. The staff are originally from Mexico City and they were very friendly. I went there twice during my stay in Calgary. They deserve a five star rating and I will be back for more when I am back in town.

THE best tacos you will ever have!! The people are genuine and friendly and it truly reflects in the food. My husband and I are addicted and continue to have it as a staple on our cheat days! Go support local for the best tacos in Calgary!

These Tacos are to die for. The flavour is off the charts, it's a true delicacy. All the dishes I tried were tasty, the burrito with the cheese and the quesadilla blew my mind. All in a laid back environment. El Chefe is working away in the back creating masterful feasts and he makes it look easy. Grab a quick lunch or have a sit down dinner you really can't go wrong eating here .

Good tacos and good birria. The place is nice and has a good location, the service is good but there was only one guy working at the time and he seemed stressed. The food takes a lot of time to come to the table, but the portions are good and the flavors are ok. As a Mexican I was surprised by the combination of birria and ramen, it was really good and really expensive. I hope this place gets better with time.

I have been following the owner in instagram since he first started to make the tacos from his home and it got so popular that he had to make a restaurant. So I was pretty excited to try it. We ordered the Birria Tacos. It took exactly 45 mins for the food to come. Taste is amazing and the broth is awesome. Compared to the time it took for the food to arrive and the price it wasn't worth it unfortunately.

Please. This place? Totally worth the trip downtown. Frickin awesome food and killer service! This might be my new favorite place! Only problem is we didn't get there early enough to try the birria. That just means there's another visit in our future, very soon! See you soon, Taqueria El Chefe!

Heard a lot from this place and it does not disappoint! The amount that you get per taco is perfect. Most places you get tacos there isn’t enough and leaves you hungry. As you can see from the pictures the portions are huge!

This is by far the BEST TACOS I have ever had in Calgary. The owner Giovanni and all the other staff were super friendly. It was our first time going and he recommended to us the Birria Tacos. My life changed forever I have never tasted something so delicious. You are not only going there for the food but also for the great customer service. I 100% recommend to go to this restaurant.

I've been patiently waiting for proper Birria Tacos to arrive in Calgary, and it seems my patience was rewarded. The tacos were unbelievably good. The broth was to die for. I am for sure coming back to try the birria ramen. Very cool interior aesthetic as well with a nicely decorated bar.
