A CUISINE BORN OUT OF NECESSITY

Northern China’s climate ranges from harsh, cold winters to blistering hot summers, resulting in difficult growing seasons. Villagers make use of what limited ingredients they have available to prepare hearty meals that not only provide nourishment, but also boost morale. Foods from this region emphasize the use of herbs and fragrant spices to produce rich, bold flavors to supplement their wheat flour staples of rice, noodles, dumplings, dim sum and steamed buns . What a great experience! If you are NEW to DIM SUM, start here! Went here for Dim Sum and found the food to be amazingly executed in both presentation and flavour. Also the decor and atmosphere is much more refined than your classic cart style Dim Sum. Even though I really like the bustle and energy of cart style Dim Sum, it's sincerely a big part of what draws me to an authentic Dim Sum experience. However this was a nice departure. I think it's great for smaller groups or more intimate dining experiences. I hope the neighbourhood takes advantage and supports this business as I don't know if there is anywhere else in the city offering food this authentic (but elevated) in a setting this nice.

So disappointed by the food. It markets itself as a northern Chinese restaurant but the food is really just fancy Chinese-Canadian fare. Nothing authentic tasting. Beautiful restaurant, clean facilities, and pleasant service, and I'm sure it's very familiar and comforting to those looking for chicken balls and Singapore noodles but not real Chinese food, let alone northern Chinese food.

Good selection of lunch options, and quite a few vegetarian options which is always appreciated. Food was good, a bit pricier than your typical Chinese restaurant but the quality seemed better as well!

Really friendly staff. Great customer service . Usually I get takeout, so I've never been able to soak up the atmosphere. So far my favorite dish is the sweet and sour . It's flavored with lychee y'all.

Second time ordering. Food tastes good, but tonight I found two long black hairs from my rice (in my mouth). Very off-putting.
