They have a very private place, very quiet. Pack you and your stuff in, and pack it out. No washrooms, water except for a nonpottable hose, some sites have power. we stayed 3 nights and 4 days and will go back. If you want to party loud, don't go. If you do go, relax.... the view is from out trailer door, we were 15 feet from the river rapids.
My only issue with staying here is the sites are really close together. It's a beautiful location, fairly close to town and the river. There are rapids behind one side of the campsite, so definitely not safe for swimming, but it's fun to see the rafters go by. The host is nice and the campground is clean. There are a few outhouses. This is Tamihi East.
Still the same after 20 years. Trees have gotten bigger, roads and bridges are still stable, for dirt. Camping stalls look clean, vary quite, and patrolled by park officials. Grab a fishing license and cast away catch & release just be careful around the river because it can sweep you away
Just spent a wonderful and relaxing couple nights here. Our first time. Matt the host was so accommodating and great to chat with. Even fixed our bumper for us!. Absolutely beautiful surroundings. Kids loved it. Water was a bit cold, but they like a challenge!. Good memories made. Thanks again! See you next year.
Stayed at the Tamihi East Campground on a weekend in August, 2022. We reserved campsite 7 medium for our rig, truck with 21' motorcycle trailer. This site is mostly a large gravel lot but half the sites 1-8 are located on the river. Lots of space for larger rigs to maneuver. Location is very convenient to access the motorcycle trails. I don't camp a lot so I don't know if it's good value, we paid $34 for two night for our rig and an additional fee for our friend that joined us with his truck. You have to pay for minimum 2 nights if you reserve for the weekend. The reservation fee was an additional night $17. I think charging $10 for visitors is a bit steep. No amenities, just pit toilets.
My family of 4 stayed at tamahi creek east for 3 nights, july 16-19. We arrived on a Friday evening hoping for a spot, the site was full but the site host, Matt, found a way to accommodate us. We got a spot for our tent trailer close to the river. Matt is a great host! He checked in on us a few times. He is super friendly and was great with my kids. The site was clean. We would definitely stay here again.
Great little campground on the side of the Vedder River where you can watch people fish the kayakers maneuver the white water or just enjoy the big Cedars. Tons of trails for both foot and 4x4 all over the area Restrooms: Outhouse Picnic area: Irregular provincial picnic tables of solid wood and old log set around the campgrounds with a view of the Vedder River and a great rest. Stop when coming back to your vehicle from hiking the many trails in the area
Lots of space for large Trailer. Best to avoid Weekends if you are not into busy busy... Photos from some of the trail views in the area..
Beautiful campsite, great prices, small camping spaces. River is loud, but nothing compared to the nonstop drone of dirt bikes and ATVs going past on the forestry service road and ripping through the campground from dawn to dusk. Like the sound of revving engines? You'll get to hear it every 10 minutes for 12-15 hours. Don't worry though, at night you get to hear them play pop and country music 'til 3 am. Hosts are very friendly but didn't step in to curb any of the loud groups.
We camp alot and haven't been that disappointed in a very long time! The outhouses were disgusting. The lady explained they'd be pumped next year and because the season was almost over aka next weekend. They didn't bother. Made our thanksgiving camping feast most enjoyable with the smells ugh The most disgusting part of the weekend was the $10 cash ONLY visitor fee. We have Never heard of this before at any campgrounds ever! They took an extra $40 off our friends who came to visit us for a few hours at a time between the 4 days we camped there! Sounds like a scam off the books to us personally it's too bad because the site has some nice trails along the river and some gorgeous scenery
