Not good value for your money. Order elsewhere. The cashew nuts chicken ding dish was $13.50 and mostly celery. When we called they told us to come to the restaurant for a refund. Then after we drove 20 mins on icy roads to get there they told us they needed the dish back for the refund. Not only that, they gave us 3 pops instead of the 4 you get with an order over $52. So many other better Chinese food restaurants in Edmonton. This one is not worth it.
I've ordered from here 3 separate times and each time I have been extremely pleased with the quality and portions of the food for the price. The breading on any deep fried meat I've had the szechuan beef and the pork seen here has been perfectly crispy yet liberally sauced. The veggies have been crisp and fresh every time, and the additions in the house specials have always been plentiful and varied. Nothing is too salty or over seasoned. I will continue to order from here until I die. I love it. Thank you so much for making amazing food Szechuan Garden!!!
Very disappointed with the food we received. We ordered sweet and sour pork, chicken chow mein, chicken and pea pods, chicken balls with lemon sauce, green onion cakes, chicken fried rice and Vietnamese spring rolls. The onion cakes and spring rolls were pretty good. The chicken balls were ok - heavy on the batter to chicken ratio but have had much worse. The rice was extremely bland and quite oily. The sweet and sour pork tasted nice but the portion small. The chicken chow mein was bland, noodles unevenly cooked, had NO chicken, and had a few HUGE pieces of bok choy, cauliflower and broccoli thrown on top - which made it look like a full dish but was far from it. The chicken and pea pods was horrible - they substituted the pea pods for green beans and threw in a bunch of carrots and three small pieces of chicken - we got a dish of beans and carrots. For the $85 it was not worth it whatsoever… small portion sizes, no meat in meat dishes, not providing the correct dishes, no quality control. I know our order was late 9 in the evening but no excuse for the multitude of errors.
Always hot and fresh. Giant portions with generous serving, not filler like cheap vegetables or sauce.
The inside of the restaurant is awful it's really in a bad way, they should do renovation to the place. For walking when you enter you would be like nope! They are affordable and the food is good but the place needs fixing.
Have been ordering here for years now. Service delivery is always punctual. Food is excellent and reasonably priced, and they always grant my requests for steamed rice and pop tossed in with my orders! Thanks A++, highly recommended.
Great place. Not much room to sit inside. Cheap, good tasting food. The people are very nice as well
Tasteless, squishy, worst Chinese food our family has ever had. Chicken fried rice was just rice and some peas, BBQ pork was tasteless leather. Ginger beef was wet and not crispy at all. Chicken chow mein had no sauce, just oily. The only think that was edible out if the 6 dishes we ordered was the chicken balls. Do not recommend.
I really wanted to like this place. I read the reviews before ordering and decided to go with a white meat chicken option, since someone said they use scrap chicken that’s poor quality in their dishes. I ordered the honey garlic chicken, which specifically states it’s made with white chicken. It was definitely scrap chicken pieces and not white meat. It was inedible. The hot & sour soup was decent, which is why I gave two stars instead of one.
The rice and chow mein were inedible because they tasted so bad. I had heard Edmonton didn’t have great Chinese food but I was shocked how badly it tasted. Orange chicken and chicken balls were good, so stick to the meat dishes it seems.
