After 2 1/2 years of renovations and restorations we are finally open. Good food, local craft beers and Sissiboo coffee in a relaxed atmosphere.

Story

In February 2015 we bought 14 Sydney Street in Digby, with the plan to start a pub/café. Yes, a crazy idea.. and an even crazier amount of work! However, we fell in love with the potential of the property and figured we might as well give it our best try. If you don't try, you don't succeed.

On this page we will give some updates on the work done, interesting finds, and more. As so many were asking for pictures, and we are both so horrible at responding to these requests (sorry!), this may be the best option to actually show off our crazy project!

Yes, we question our sanity on a daily basis. And there would be no way we could ever do this without the help of so many awesome volunteers! But we believe in trying to save a piece of history in Digby (did you know 14 Sydney Street was originally built in 1902 as a church?), and we believe a place with such amazing architecture and character should be saved...

And what better way than creating a place for the public?

We were here in early June and had tasty meals here. We eat early so it was quiet. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. I had the Chicken Souvlaki and my husband had the Butter- fried Halibut with Summer berry salad and Fries. We both enjoyed our meals. For dessert we shared a Strawberry Cheescake which was yummy! It was quite hot outside so we sat inside. We loved the wood paneling on the walls and ceiling.
Great food, drink and our lovely staff who served us. She was the sweetest! :nWould certainly recommend to try their On Tap brews and super smooth Fundy Fog!nTheir signature vegetarian pasta of the day was beyond delicious, of was a burst of flavours! We just loved our time here. Would definitely visit again. :
We stopped in after Whale watching, we had a reservation, it was a larger group 11 people.it was a bit of a wait for our first drink order one of our group. Yes it happens, but most of our group had finished their first drinks, nobody came back to see if we needed more until we let them know we were still waiting on the one drink.And we waited for 2 hours for our food with some of our party having to leave because the service was slow.One star on service, yes our server was a very kind lady while we were waiting for our drinks and food and during eating, we were fighting off millions and millions of fruit flies it seemed. I'm not sure if it was the area we were seated in.
Sidney St., Café should not be overlooked! The food is top notch. The atmosphere is so charming and comfortable and the entire staff is absolutely amazing! My son and I enjoyed our first trip to Nova Scotia recently and I think this is one of the best nights that we had! Evan is a gift with his charisma, recommendations, and gift of the gab! Absolutely amazing night with good food and a wonderful atmosphere with a beautiful place in the world. Thank you so much. Hope to see you soon. One day… very reasonable prices with five star food … we probably spent more than the average people because we were there a very, very long time through dinner, dessert, and after dinner drinks. Met the chef later in the evening, who was adorable and talked about his dishes that remain constant among the crew in the kitchen. The entire staff was truly special and had their hearts invested in keeping the Sydney Street, café alive, and kicking to impress all clientele. We will go back ! Digby is where I heard you can get the best scallops on the island. They were some of the best I've had. Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant
