"Our restaurant specializes in Omakase Nigiri. Omakase Nigiri Sushi11piece for $90.00+tax per person must be ordered first and then customers may order other things from the menu. Nigiri rice may be ordered in small portions by request, but please note that if you don’t eat the rice that is served with your Omakase, you won’t be allowed to order extra Nigiri Sushi. We are delighted to serve you authentic Japanese fresh fish and offer you an enjoyable experience. The Sushi Chef thinks of details when he serves you, the customer. He thinks of the temperature of the sushi rice, the display, and the order of which type of Sushi to serve.Maumi, the chef will serve you sushi piece by piece."

I had a great experience. I appreciate the minimalist and traditional approach that the chef took. Fish was very fresh and delicious. I personally loved the scallop and white shrimp. It’s a great and affordable intro to omakase if you haven’t had it before. Would highly recommend.
Sushi was fresh and good. However, the service was dry. When I go to Omakase I expect an intimidate service. During the approx.1hour experience, we only informed about the menu and the names of fish. It would be better if we get more information about fish at least.
An incredibly unique dining experience. I visited here during February… we had to reserve a month in advance. The experience was great, the fish was fresh, and the service was excellent. I love how intimate the experience feels and will definitely be back.
An absolutely awesome introduction into omakase service. The price is worth the experience. Because you are really paying for the experience and stellar quality ingredients. You have to book online and make a reservation. And I would recommend doing this well in advance especially if your party is large. I would highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a sushi experience. Prices per peice of sushi range from $8-20 after the $90 service of 11 or so peices of nigiri.
Great quality of sushi - happy that they can maintain the same fresh quality as before COVID. An hour long dinning experience - if you are looking for a place to chat this might not be the place though.
Amazing quality ingredients and authentic experience. It was wonderful being able to see our sushi being prepared in front of us. The Japanese uni and bluefin tuna o-toro were melt-in-your-mouth DELICIOUS! Would highly recommend for any sushi lover.
Amazing omakase experience. It was me and my girlfriend’s first time at omakase and we were blown away by the experience and the quality of the food. We got to try a lot of different fish that we never thought about having and some even ended up being our favourites. After the omakase course we were able to order single pieces of nigiri with additional cost. The experience was very professional and somewhat strict. The chef was very professional but lacked a bit of interaction with the guest, which would’ve enhanced the experience more. Overall a very good experience and would recommend to anyone wanting to try an omakase for an affordable price!
Visiting from Toronto, I had my fair share of Omakase. Initially prior to booking and looking at different Omakase options, I was worried this place might have been overhyped and was looking for a more intimate and "mom and pop" experience and based on reading reviews on Google, TripAdvisor and Reddit I decided it try it out. Bookings needed to be made in advance approx 1 month. Location is at a street corner with "interesting"surroundings. We were greeted promptly at our dining time. Chef greeted everyone prior to starting and had good eye contact and introduced every fish prior to placing the sushi on our plates. Everything tasted fresh, delicious. After the 11 course, you can have the option to order extra from their extensive menu which were reasonably priced. Overall will definitely come back and recommend. I had to say having tried many different Omakase from Toronto with different price points, Sushi Bar Maumi was one of the best. Price wise, quality wise and setting/service wise. The overall experiencing felt very "home-y"
Honestly a little disappointed with the experience I had here. Good service but the fish was just not fresh at all. Beautiful cuts of fish but it was very fishy! Tamago tasted yummy but was frozen in the middle. Eating just what was provided wasn't quite enough so expect to pay $80.00 plus for extra pieces. Overall not bad for the price but probably wouldnt go again.
Best traditional style omakase experience in Vancouver. I’ve been here 6 years ago and went again recently, just as good as I remember.Recommended dishesBluefin Tuna, Omakase
