Super 8 Kamloops East

Feb 14/2014 I was traveling west and stayed at the Super8 in Medicine Hat in Alberta the night before. My 1 night stay there was very good and the room was very clean and the hotel well kept and staff there very nice. However when I arrived at this Super8 in Kamloops at 2459 trans Canada hwy, I was very very dis-appointed to say the least. At the front desk they still had to write down my details “Manually “. Not too big of a deal, but it begins to explain what I’m about to write below. When I opened the door to my room I was appalled to see paint roller marks on the walls, the carpet had holes , tears and stains in it. The door had dirty foot prints on the bottom “ on the inside! “ and the inside of the door looked like it had never been cleaned along with BIG chips in paint on the door trim. The lamp by the table I couldn’t turn on because the switch was broken . It was as though NO MAINTENANCE HAD EVER BEEN DONE TO THIS ROOM AT ALL. If it wasn’t for the fact that I was so tired from driving for 12 hours with my dog and it was dark, in a city I didn’t know at all I would have left. I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE.

Perfect for a family of 4 to spend a night while on a long road trip. Sonya was awesome at the desk and accommodated my family checking in at 2am. We got a good night sleep, room was clean, great rates, beds were comfy and breakfast is enough to get you going. Perfect place to take a break

Plans fell through and I needed a place to stay with my tiny dog. Woke the clerk up. He checked us in quickly. Very respectful.

Small and old room, with an effort to seem newer than it really was. Oldest coffee machine I'd ever seen in the room. The free breakfast was okay, kinda sucked, but to be expected. They had freezer waffles, which was cool. The worst part though, was that since we were forced to come here (see my review of the Trans Canada Motel...), they clearly charged us much more than the room was worth. $150 for just one night in a room with 2 beds? In a Super 8?? Scummy management, because I'm sure they specifically drive the prices up when the neighbouring motels are full. Avoid if possible.
