Sunburst Lodge Bed and Breakfast

If you follow her rules and make sure you and your guests respect her home, you will have a great time. However... I gave 4 stars because she has unrealistic rules that sometimes come out of nowhere. Example: she made everyone a lovely breakfast, but there was a table that had 5 chairs so my sister moved a chair so she could sit next to her grandpa. Nancy didn't like that so, proceeded to tell her she can't do that because there were 5 chairs there. She said this to her in front of everyone. There was more than enough room at that table to seat at least 8. I like to think we were more than respectful to her and her home but she is so unpredictable and makes you feel uneasy (if you're the kind of person that makes sure everyone is having a good time. You will feel the same) In the end when the wedding started she vanished for the whole thing. I read reviews that said she was prowling and critizing people during there wedding but most likely due to them breaking rules. She does have a sign she puts up that says "only house guests allowed upstairs." this is because her personal room is upstairs and doesn't want unknown people going through the rooms. If you approach her and let her know you would like to look around she gives you a tour or even the go ahead to look around. I've read reviews that complained about this. Don't think just because you rent the whole place you can just do whatever you want, this is still her home so respect it. You wouldn't want people going through your house uninvited. Anyways, She was wonderful otherwise just beware of little rules coming out of nowhere that might be a little silly. The wedding was awesome. Great location and beautiful home.

Beautiful bed and breakfast. The grounds are gorgeous and the view from the back deck is stunning. I was only there to attend a wedding, but would love to stay the night there, and get away.

A wonderful 4-day weekend. Here with a group of 10 adults. Beautiful home. Tasty breakfasts. I've read the reviews about the owner, Nancy, and I have to disagree. She is salt-of-the-earth Midwest personality. Truly she doesn't beat around the bush when she needs to enforce rules, BUT she has a heart of gold. We invited her to eat a dinner with us, and really had a chance to learn about her business. Nancy has a deadpan sense of humor that can take an entire room full of people to laughter and tears! Angela who helps, would be my best friend if I lived nearby. Great lady. I think I will try to plan a family reunion here.

This was such a beautiful lodge! The location was pristine and the place is gorgeous! Nancy was a lovely host and makes a mean breakfast. She is an interesting individual, and I would love to sit down and hear all about her life!

I recently attended a wedding at this location. The lodge is in very nice place on top of a mountain; clean, quiet and with a beautiful view. However, the owners who also run the place were an absolute nightmare to the bride and groom. My wife was a bridesmaid so I had some time to hang around and observe while they were prepping. During the rehearsal and the wedding, the female owner, Nancy, was awkwardly wandering around being extremely rude, scowling at all the guests making it very uncomfortable for us. But the worst part was that she was constantly harassing the bride and groom throughout the whole weekend, including their own wedding night! This included several menial issues that easily could have been handled prior to or after the wedding. The most unprofessional display of hospitality I have ever witnessed, especially considering they paid good money to rent the place out. Bottom line, Nancy needs to change her attitude and take her actions into consideration when it comes to how she treats her paying guests because this place has some serious potential.
