January 27th, 1:30pm: I took my 2 nephews to Crystal Mountain in Washington State for a boys and uncle trip to visit to the peak and have lunch at the restaraunt there. When we got to the top (after paying $53 for just the gondola ride up), they told us at the restarant that their hot water was broken and so they said they could not seat anyone. I was with my 2 nephews who only wanted to see the view and eat lunch. However, as we were warming back-up to go outside to ride back down to the base, ~3 mins later they seated a couple. I then asked the hostess, if we could get a seat as they just seated the couple, she retorted again that the hot water was broken and they were only serving drinks and hinted that the couple were paying. I then told her that I was willing to buy drinks (1 coke, 1 sprite and 1 tea for $9) just for my nephews to get a view. She hesitated, but then after I riterated that I would pay, they sat us in the middle of the restaurant away from the window (the main reason for them coming). Sure it was a 2 person table and they indicated it would block thier movements, but the restaurant was over half empty. We bought the "drinks" and left after 10 mins. My nephews were confused and visibly upset. I was calm and observing as they served me a tea which includes hot water, last time i checked, hence why i asked for one. Maybe it was a remainder from previous efforts? In any case, not a nice experience as they interaction was not nice and we paid $53 for a gondola ride that took less than 45 mins from purchase to take us to the top, so not the best communication between the base and restaurant.

Take the gondola ride to the top of the mountain, to get to this restaurant with a wonderful view of the mountains. The outdoor seating is great during summer- just don't forget your sunscreen lotion, a light jacket/coat and shades. This is probably the only place on top of the mountain, where you can get some food, so obviously it gets crowded, especially in winter, when everyone's out there skiing and snowboarding. Might want to make a reservation in advance for a large group. They sometimes don't take reservations for lunch, so check their website or call beforehand or try to get in early to get a table. Otherwise, it can be a long wait. Have been here twice and the food and service have been good. The chicken wings here are the best wings I've ever had. Juicy, flavorful and tender. Ordered the wings for appetizers and it was so good that I had to order another round after main course. Lol! I wouldn't mind driving 3 hours to this place just for the wings. So so good! The pasta and molten chocolate cake was also exceptionally good! If you are looking to kill some time and get a nice meal, a little hike and spend some time amidst nature, this is a good option and worth the drive from Seattle.

Yes, it's very expensive ($23 just for the gondola ride up) but the view is spectacular and that's pretty much what you go for. Our food was decent and the homemade gingerale was pretty good but the service was terrible. Food took a long time, my Mom kept having to ask for her drink after everyone else was served and some guy wrapped a cord around our table and told us to be careful and not trip if we got up? Kind of weird...it looked like he was fixing something in the kitchen. For such a "fancy" experience, not what you expect. Overall though, you're there for the view so keep that in mind! Oh, and the bathroom is outside of the main building, kind of bizarre.
