$$ DEFINITELY Recommend.... However plan to pay a bit more it's a little on the pricey side but So Worth every penny!! I had the Steakhouse Salad and added shrimp so Surf and turf Salad IT WAS SO GOOD! HE had the wagyu and it was Really good and when it sells for 100$ a lb in store but you can get an 18 oz here for about 78$ and cooked the way you want it!!! You Can't beat that! The drinks were great and the Cheese steak Egg rolls were so Good we are still talking about them! If you want a nice date place THIS is the place!
Service was not good. We didn't have a server for the first 10 to 15 minutes and had to stop someone to ask for water. Just didn't feel welcomed as an African in America. But the food was good. Also didn't get a refill on water again till asked. As much as I liked the food I would think twice before coming back. Waitress was so dry and seemed so uninterested. I had to make a joke at the end to see if she would laugh....
This was our first time in Chicago, and we chose this place for our THANKSGIVING DINNER. Everything was great. FOOD, SERVICE, AMBIENCE... It was about 40 minutes from our Downtown Chicago Hotel, but worth the trip. The Halibut was delicious and you must try the Beef Wellington Bites Appetizer.Food: 5/5
I really don't want to be that guy. We live in an age of unprecedented tolerance, an age where the racial animosities of a bygone area, while not forgotten, have fallen away from the minds of most. So progressive are we that when I patronize a business with thoroughly unsatisfying customer service, I typically look to any factor but race as a possible explanation. Poor management. Overworked staff. Insufficient training. Anything but old fashioned racism. Alas, there are times when the evidence is simply too overwhelming to ignore, and the culprit can only be race. In those instances, I have no choice but to be the guy who lays the charge of racism at a business' feet. I came to Sullivan's tonight with a party of 6 including me, 3 Black men and 3 Black women. We were seated in a bustling space with approximately 7 or 8 other tables. Other couples. Families. Friend groups. We had a real cross section of folks around us. It's worth mentioning, in light of the night's events, that none of the other patrons in our area were Black. Our waiter was a very polite young man who did not neglect the rudiments of quality customer service: he smiled with a very affable demeanor, was willing to assist my party in selecting our meals, and was fairly accomplished at building strong rapport with us. You would think based on those qualities that our dining experience would have been a stellar one. It was not. The word of the day as far as my complaints are concerned is DELAY. You see, our waiter, superficially nice guy though he may be, was incredibly inattentive to and slow to respond for our table. We placed our orders, and it took a full 20-25 minutes before we received our drinks and complimentary bread. The appetizers took about an hour to come out, and the entrees took yet another hour and some change to reach us. Dessert was served piecemeal. First we received forks. Then, a half hour later, we received our slices of cheesecake and Key Lime pie. From start to finish, we spent a total of 3 hours in the restaurant with only about 45 minutes of that time spent eating and enjoying our meals. This alone is abysmal and would discourage any reasonable man from ever patronizing this establishment again. But we must not forget the racial component. Literally every other [non-Black] table in the area received their food and drink within reasonable spans of time. No more than 10-20 minutes elapsed before an order was fulfilled and hot plates of delicious food were served to eager guests. There were even patrons who came in AFTER us but who ate and left BEFORE us. I'd never witnessed service so blatantly lopsided. I won’t bother going into detail about our waiter’s blunder in putting the wrong changes on the wrong divided bills or double charging some of us. This was my first and unfortunately my last time at Sullivan's.
Tonight we celebrate our friends engagement. The staff and food were amazing. i was full from the appetizers but of course i ordered main dish +soup+dessert. Everything was perfect.
Sullivan's is such a treat! Once in a while when my family has something really special to celebrate we splurge on a nice dinner here, and it never lets us down. We came in at 4:30 pm on a Friday to celebrate my parents' anniversary. This restaurant is always on point. The dining room is lovely and very nice without being stuffy the ceilings and light fixtures are absolutely gorgeous- the servers are friendly and know the menu inside and out. We all got the filet for dinner, I don't know where Sullivan's gets their meat, but they are like butter! It's so tender they don't need effort to cut, and it just about melts in your mouth. I can't even say how fantastic it is. We had wedge salads for appetizers, and my folks had wine and I had an espresso martini. It was good, but I think I meant to get the mocha martini, so that was on me. The restaurant treated my folks to dessert they split a piece of cheesecake and I finally tried the bananas foster bread pudding, which WOW. I've always wondered about that dessert, so I am glad I finally tried it- it's really fantastic. This whole dinner was fantastic. The server took a group picture of us and printed it to make into a little anniversary card for my folks. If anyone from Sullivan's reads this, Lexie was absolutely a fantastic server, my parents were thrilled with the evening, and you've ruined all other steak restaurants for me for the rest of my life. Nobody else is ever going to do what you all do.
Enjoyed the monthly tasting that paired bourbon and special menu dishes. The salad starter was nice and if you love crunchy nuts it was worth it. The oyster dish was phenomenal. It really belong atop polenta, polenta fries, or pasta. Rich and flavourful. The braised beef dish was super tender with a rich flavor. Not my favorite way to have beef as I'm more a medium rare chooser. Being as it's a center cut with no fat I understand the choice. I miss having a Sullivan's in the city so this was a nice substitute. You definitely need a reservation. The parings were full size just like the beverages so you didn't feel shorted in any way. It was not clear if their were alternates for those with maybe gluten issues or allergies. Parking: We had to do valet. We had someone on a cane with us so it wasn't clear if they were in a wheelchair where we could enter.
Wonderful experience and on Valentines The staff was so attentive and helpful. Obviously, I got a filet. I got the Cabernet goat cheese on the side. Honestly, the steak did not need anything. Multiple sides. Oh and the smoked rosemary Manhattan was phenomenal!
Let's start off by giving high, high kudos for Abraham, our waiter. He had a smile on his face from the moment he introduced himself. He was very professional but yet friendly and approachable. He is very knowledgeable about all that Sullivan's has to offer. Abraham made several menu suggestions and he hit the mark on each one. His support staff made sure we had everything we needed, we were never lacking for water or anything else. We started our meal with their Oysters Rockefeller. They were amazing, buttery and savery. They were topped with bacon, cheese, creamy spinich and oh so good. We also had their Beef Wellington Bites. The meat was tender and surrounded by a Savory mushroom puree that complimented the beef. The pastry was very soft and buttery and the peppercorn sauce added that little spicy kick. One of the entries was a nice thick cut 8 oz Ribeye that was cooked to medium perfection. The outside was nice and crusted yet the middle of the steak was tender and juicy. The spices that were used gave the meat and hint of heat but it didn't detract from the nice beef flavor you expect from a great cut of meat. The dish was complimented with creamy mashed potatoes and a nice beef gravy. The 2nd entry was the evening's special which was surf & turf. It came with a tender NY Strip and Lobster tail. The spices used on the strip were much different than those used on the Ribeye but they were excellent. The strip had a more smokier flavor than the Ribeye, it complimented the buttery Libster tail to perfection. We finished our meal with a nice big piece of chocolate cake. It was not overberingly sweet. Nice rich dark chocolate cake frosted with a smooth chocolate and drizzled with raspberry sauce. YUMMMMM! We recommend their Moscato if you enjoy a nice semi sweet wine to compliment your meal. Overall we give Sullivan's a whole hearted 5 stars for their service and meal selections. We will be back soon. Thank you Abraham and the support staff for making the evening enjoyable and memorable. Roy/Joel
We love this place, we’ve come here probably once a month for the past year and have enjoyed it every time. All of the waiters have been great to us. I’ll attach pictures to show how everything looks, it’s all plated beautifully. We always order the pork belly, mashed potatoes with creamy horseradish on the side, and the blueberry lemon drop martinis - without fail. The sides are definitely shareable. As for entrees, we’ve tried the filet, cowboy cut ribeye, wagyu strip, and steakhouse salad very filling. All amazing, but I mostly order the cowboy cut. We’ve also tried the ahi tuna, which is a bit spicy for me but my partner loved it. The brussel sprouts are always great. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is also good, and the lobster is fantastic. Definitely not cheap but it’s a great treat if you love food, for a date night or to celebrate an accomplishment.
