Overall strawberry park is alright, it definitely used to be more of a polished experience, but a lot of the 1 star reviews are definitely harsh overreactions. There is a very good chance that you'll come here and have a perfectly normal, if less than perfect, vacation. The pools are nice, and the splash pad is good as well. The store on our most recent visit was basically 70% out of stock which completely defeats the purpose of having a store in a campground. You can't grab basic necessities if they're out of stock. The arcade is dated and will really only entertain you for 5-15 minutes at most, which is a shame because some simple upkeep and improvements could really help it. They don't even have a coin machine in the arcade which is frustrating. Most of the sites themselves are pretty nice, but as mentioned in other reviews there are a lot of rocks/boulders all over the place. These typically aren't a huge problem but can be kind of inconvenient for some, especially if the site is a tight squeeze already. There was no one at the gate when I came in, I don't recall if they were there when I left but having a little bit of added security would ease a lot of the complaints I've read on here. In the past I've always been stopped at the gate. As far as the people disobeying quiet hours/partying late into the night, I didn't experience that, but it largely depends on where your site is and luck of the draw. A lot of reviews mention the problem areas being regulars on permenant sites, so maybe attempt to stay further from them. Once again this could be largely stopped with some security on golf carts patrolling. Even if they don't do much just being there could help. Overall, if you've never been this is a pretty nice campground with all of the amenities you'd really need for a week in the woods. Some of the amenities are a little run down, sure, but nothing is so horrible here that your vacation will be ruined. If you've been here extensively and are deciding between this and something new, give somewhere else a shot for a year or two.
We were a bit hesitant to go to this campground- despite its longstanding great reputation- because of some of the recent reviews. During our week long stay we had a great time. There were a variety of different events going on every half hour; from simple bike rides and games to DJs and bands. If you love bingo this is also a place for you… Every night they had bingo with the prices up to just under $500. The reason that we would give them four stars is because the facilities needed a little TLC, we also felt that it was strange that the adult pool that was 4 feet was heated but the kids pools were not and that they were the bigger pools. Lastly a better dog park would make this place fantastic but there were so many amazing amenities.
Very disappointed. I grew up hearing how awesome this place was and was excited to check it out. Went for two days to check it out with the anticipation that I would book a longer stay next summer. I was immediately overwhelmed by the amount of trash everywhere and how poorly maintained the common areas were. Can’t tell you how many times I had to tell my kid to not touch the broken glass everywhere or chase the blowing trash or play with all the full trash bags everywhere. The sites are stacked on top of each other which I would normally be ok with if there was some other redeeming quality about the park but there wasn’t. Had it been peak season I would have packed up and left after a day. Speaking of peak- I stayed very much off peak and paid peak prices. I found that to be a little ridiculous considering everything including the camp store was closed. Glad I tried it out first! Avoid if at all possible!
This place is anything but a resort. What a shame. It used to be a wonderful and CONTROLLED family Campground Resort , but it seems that ship has sailed. Bathrooms are gross and the showers are a joke- and that’s if they work.. Absolutely no security unless you call teenagers a good security system. Not even cool to have teens attempt to handle any security situations as I can only imagine the discomfort they must feel when they actually do address any security issues. The “Restaurant” is only open on weekends, but yet keep in mind it’s summer and there a “Resort”.. The sweet lady at the gate gets absolutely NO breaks! And has to sit in the heat rather then the little booth that should have AC No breaks after so many hours, is against the law our garbage sat for 4 days before anyone came to get it but that was after some dogs that were allowed to run loose, rummaged through it and the other campers garbage as well on the lane we were on. Even after complaining, it just sat there. The seasonal tenants seem to think they own the place- Nothing to really brag about there, but hey. They completely over book to where it can’t possibly be safe. There’s no curfew so even 8 year olds can hang out riding their bikes till 2 am. If no one is at the gate to open you sit there and wait and that can be up to at least 15-20 mins. And lastly we heard about them charging you after check out for BS reasons. The worst part is according to the staff - there OVER staffed!!! So we’re not dealing with under staffing and that says a lot. $600 completely wasted. For the amount of things there charging for and the prices, there is no excuse for any of the above. It’s a Resort alright- The last resort:- And I see the silly responses they have on here to unhappy campers/customers. I’ll never see what they have to say to this. Word of mouth is everything. I won’t be referring this place at all. Again what a shame.
I am very disappointed in how things went for my first ever visit at this campground. We arrived Friday night around 7:45pm, it was dark. Upon checkin at the gate, the lady took out information, gave me a map and was kind of rushing me through the process. I asked her if there was someone who could escort us to our site as this was our first time here. She said no, use the map to find your way. I felt like she was being ignorant. So after about 20 minutes of driving around with a 42ft trailer and asking another patron where the site was, the patron helped me find the site I was going to. Then on Saturday, we were going to have some friends come to the campground for dinner before we headed out to the casino, I called the office to pay for them and we were told that it would be $20 per person, I explained that there were only staying for a short time, about 1 1/2 hrs, and was told again that it was still $20 a person. Now I could understand $20 for both, but $40 for the 2 for less than 2 hours is ridiculous. I'll never stay at this campground again, and will never recommend it to anyone.
Awesome place, staff constantly cleaning bathrooms. I wish the Porta potty by the tent sites was cleaned more often but they were not in charge of that. Pool was being cleaned every morning, plenty of activities all day long everyday for all ages. Love coming here!
We have been coming to Strawberry Park since the 1980's. Over the last couple of years, we have been going for the Halloween weekends. Our group has a blast. We rent the Park Models and have noticed that every year they get more worn for the wear. There was a terrible smell when you first walked inside not a clean smell. The decks are worn out. Some people in our group didn't have heat and and then their was a problem with the toilets where people in our group were told by staff to use the campground bathrooms. This defeats the purpose of convenience and for that they could have saved their money and used a tent.
Went for halloween weekend. Now this used to be one of THE BEST weekends ever !! With that being said .. we rented a cabin .. first bad taste in my mouth was check in wasnt until 4 pm and they make you check out sunday at 10 am … so why did I pay for 3 days ? Second .. we went on a hay ride to see the entire area .. well it went around one loop and came back and missed alot of streets that were decorated .. my mom wanted to see them So we took a walk as we were walking the streets missed the hayride comes down the same road .. you have to BE FAIR and do the same for everyone. Third our cabins had NOTHING .. im glad i checked reviews so we did come prepared but know there are NO pots pans silver wear linens bar soap ANYTHING. Fourth it cost $20 per person to visit … thats insanity!!!!!! And last but not least LOUD campers screaming singing till 1-4 am .. im all for a party and having a good time but dont say quiet hour is 11 pm and have people going wild until 3-4 am .. its RUDE ..
Really great first experience. The tiny homes are very cute and inspiring. The park itself has a lot to offer especially for families. My family had a great time. My only complaints are the bathroom sizes and pool sizes. Due to the amount of ppl the pools get really warm which isn’t the best but thank God for the splash pad that’s really fun and on hot days is such a relief since the water is freezing. I appreciate all the activities offered and that there is food and sports fields. Bathrooms are EXTREMELY small compared to other grounds. On hot days the bathrooms get extremely warm and muggy so you’re sweating as soon as you’re done showering so either better ventilation or a bigger facility is needed they have the space and make the money to do it I additionally just wish that lights out policies were better enforced we were next to a large group that was up until 1-2am so I advise folks looking for peace and quiet to reserve a space on the Left side of the park near the pavilion
Bathrooms by the pool are hit or miss, sometimes a disaster, sometimes fine. Restaurant booth stopped selling breakfast, only lunch/dinner now. Employees going way faster than the 8 MPH posted speed limit in vehicles. People/kids driving around golf carts that were also going way too fast. This place is going down hill.
