The doctors and nurses at the Stollery Children's Hospital are all professional and friendly. However, the journey to get to this hospital with my little baby is too rough. Every day, my family and I are forced to inhale secondhand smoke from people who gather to smoke in front of the entrance. Who would want their baby to be exposed to cigarette smoke? Although there are signs warning against smoking around the building, there is no one enforcing the rules and stopping people from smoking. One of Canada's top children's hospitals seems to have its reputation tarnished by people smoking cigarettes in front of the hospital. Other than that, there are no other inconveniences when using the hospital.nThe doctors, nurses, and numerous staff members of this hospital seem to have a strong sense of professionalism and dedication to their mission, as they work tirelessly to care for sick patients and their families. I am truly grateful for this. The inside of the hospital building is generally clean, but the outdoor public parking lot on the east side was very dirty.
The pediatric neurology department has been great to us. The nurses are wonderful and take their time answering all our questions. Any wait time issues we’ve experienced are the result of the health care department at large, and not this hospital. Also the food court options were surprisingly yummy!
My 6 year old son was brought to the Stollery via Ambulance as he was having trouble breathing. We were taken into a room to wait for a Dr. Hours passed and he was finally checked over. She listened to his lungs and sent us home saying he was fine. He continued to have off and on blue lips and a horrendous cough. I ended up taking him to a walk in clinic which the Dr ordered a chest X ray and turns out my son had pneumonia, which took two separate rounds of antibiotics to clear. I am very upset that my son was not sent for proper testing while in the stollery. Not acceptable
Dr. Sandra Resident Doctor so patiently heard all our concerns…… we feel so lucky and blessed to have such a doctor for our baby…… Dr. Trish was so kind with our baby…… wWait time was approx 3.5 hours but on website its 4.5 hours.
Thank you to the ER nurses, Dr. Popel, unit 4E4/4F2 staff, and the PDEC team for saving my son’s life. After visiting 4 different doctors, including our paediatrician and family doctor to no avail, we finally got a diagnosis and prompt treatment here at the Stollery. We nearly lost our son but he is now back home with us. God bless you!
