As important as great reviews are when choosing a place to eat, knowing about the less than satisfactory experiences are equally important.nnMy friend and I rushed over to state and main, setting up child care to be able to make it to happy hour and have a girls evening. When we walked in, we were helped right away and couldn’t help notice that the restaurant was empty. This made more sense after trying their food.nnIt was disheartening to see that the happy hour menus was maximum $2 off the original overpriced dishes. And their drinks so we only ordered 1 appetizer the baja Brussels sproutsnnI ordered the veggie burger as my main and the only flavour it had was from the onion. The mark was missed. I had to add salt to it and it fell apart in my hands. It was very soggy and underwhelming.nnMy friend ordered the grilled cheese burger and it was the same situation. No flavour. And soaked with oil.nnReading other reviews, this seems like a common theme and for this reason I will not be returning.

Excellent, 1st time and definitely not the last, service was great, and food was amazing. Sidewinder hazy IPA was delicious.

Recently went to State & Main and had a great lunch. It was quiet, which made for a relaxing experience. The service was fast and friendly; our server was attentive without being overbearing. The food arrived hot and fresh, just as we ordered, and drinks were topped off quickly, which we appreciated.nnThe atmosphere was really cool with lots of space and seating, so we never felt cramped. The decor added to the overall enjoyable experience. It’s a fantastic spot for a casual lunch, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good food and a comfortable setting. Definitely a place worth visiting!

Went to state and main tonight and service was horrible. Started out fine with our Orders taken within 5 minutes on sitting down there were 4 of us. Downfall was when our food came 20 minutes, which is not bad but still no drinks. Half the meal was down when drinks finally showed up. Those drinks were 3 cokes and 1 beer. Nothing complicated

Came here for a birthday dinner, dinner was fine. We specifically came from dessert - the creme brûlée as it was my birthday and this was my version of a birthday cake. When our server came over to ask if we wanted anything else we asked for said dessert and her response was simply “oh the kitchen closes at 9, sorry my bad.”nIt was only about 9:15 pm. It is also worth noting they start the evening happy hour from 9-close which is half food.nnNeedless to say I was extremely disappointed to not enjoy the one item we came for and to not have been told that the kitchen would be closing.
