I am so happy to discovered St. Lawrence Bagels. They making it the closest thing that I have seen to authentic bagels in Montreal. The texture and the taste are so perfect! I cannot believe I finally found a great bagels place in Calgary. When I went there today they just came out of the wood oven and they were hot and the scent was sublime. Go there and try it. You won’t be disappointed
I've been trying to find a good bagel spot in the city for some time now. Driven past this place many times before and completely missed it. I would've never realized what a gem it was if I wasn't in the right place at the right time when I was craving a bagel. I've since been back several times and this is now my go to spot. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic bagels!! They could be the best in the city. Picked up some Winnipeg cream cheese and salmon lox. They've got a great selection of other items as well, like eggs and Montreal smoked meat. Will go back again.
I am from Montreal and grew up in the Mile end, home to the famous St-viateur and Fairmont bagels. As early as I can remember, in the morning my dad would take me to st-viateur bagels and get me a fresh-out-of the wood fire oven bagel that I would eat while still hot on my way to school. St-viateur bagels is an institution in Montreal, part of the culture. When I go back to visit, it is one of my first stops. And when I have family and friends visiting, they know what to bring bagels. There’s a few places in Calgary that claim to make Montreal style bagels but it’s been quite disappointing until I tasted St-Lawrence bagels. These are it, folks! The closest to a real Montreal bagel I’ve had outside of Montreal. No surprises, the owner is from Montreal and used to work at St-viateur bagels!! I am so glad I have found this place and have been going back on a regular bagel run. I love that they are making whole wheat& whole grain versions and they sell all the fixings too cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, etc… CASH ONLY.
Amazing bagels! Stopped in early in the morning 9:15 and they had the wood oven fired up. The smell was amazing. For fresh bagels, they just had a couple options plain and sesame because it was early in the day but they had a variety of day-old options and an assortment that were frozen. Ended up getting a few bagels fresh from the oven that were still warm alongwith an assortment of frozen. Taste and texture similar to other Montreal style bagels I’ve had. Will definitely be going back.
I took a wrong turn driving home and passed by St Lawrence Bagels and pulled into the parking lot on a whim. I bought a half dozen sesame bagels and they were amazing! I'm so happy that I stumbled upon this place as the bagels are delicious. They're the closest thing to a Montreal bagel that I've been able to find outside Quebec/Ontario. They are cash only, but I would happily take out money to be able to support this business.
Excellent bagels! I have come to take it for granted that the shop is there, and very much hope that it will continue to be the case. The price has been going up, unfortunately, but hopefully it reflects the cost of producing these delicious bagels that are an absolute comfort food for me, they are so delicious!
This is one of those hole in the wall spots where you don't want to let the secret out and keep it to yourself, but at the same time want to tell the world so the hard working family is successful. Delicious Montreal style bagels cooked in a wood fired oven by a wonderful friendly couple. Note to the people complaining about no credit/debit. Paying cash is how you support local business. The fees charged by global credit companies are insane.
In my opinion, the best bagels in the city! You have to try the Montreal smoked meat bagel sandwich. One heads up, they do only take cash/ e-transfer so be prepared for that.
The bagels are delicious, love the Montreal wood fire stove style they bake them in. Sometimes not all flavours are available when I come, but always manage to get a good assortment.
