Highly recommend! Wow! Delicious, fresh, friendly, clean! All good things here. Decided to visit with family while on our trip north and it was a great decision. Our server, Taylor, was phenomenal.. very attentive, friendly and informative. The food was fresh, hot and very tasty especially their breading on food items, very light and crispy. The restaurant is one open big space as well as their patio, makes perfect local friendly atmosphere. Plenty of parking available on site. Recommend a visit and if you can some pasties homemade and limited. Kid-friendliness: No kids menu but regular menu offers a variety of options and affordable prices prices are very affordable in comparison to like establishments anywhere Parking: Parking available on site. Plenty available.
We had a large party on a snowy day. The service was outstanding. The food bot so much. My chicken was flavorless, the mashed potatoes and corn were cold. The clam chowder is pretty tasty and hot. My son liked his pizza, but the locals we met with admitted the food was subpar compared to their normal quality. I gave 2 stars for the food because a few others said the Ruben, wrap and burger were good. The service was great. I'll likely give this place another shot based off service and word of mouth from locals.
Convenient & close to home. Had the wet burrito with chicken. Unfortunately, it was on the dry side. Husband's beef looked much better / fuller than mine. Chicken wasn't shredded just small cubes..... Disappointing All in all date night was ok for not wanting to cook.
Really busy on friday night but got a table on ten minutes. I got the beer battered whitefish. It was sublime. Decor is basically log cabin meets sports bar. Which is fine if you like sports. Great food though.Food: 5/5
Great serviceThanks Shelby for making our first experience a great one, good food, and comfy atmosphere!
Had I known the pizza would come out like this I wouldn’t have ordered.
We've been to the Spikehorn a few times and haven't been disappointed yet. Located on the North side of Houghton Lake, you could almost say that it's "tucked away" but since it's right there on the main drag of the North shore, it's pretty much in plain sight. A nice, modern interior, it still has a very rustic, Northern Michigan Lake Look, complete with pine paneling, though in a tasteful sort of way. It's a good place for Date Night and they even have live music frequently. The service at the Spikehorn has been consistently timely and we've never had to wait for food or drink, though admittedly we haven't been there when it's swamped, so don't know how they deal with high volume. The menu has a nice variety and I was pleased to find a pretty dang good Burrito. Nice. Not just the standard bar fare. And of course, it wouldn't be fair not to mention the full bar, with a fairly decent selection of beers on tap. I had a tasty dark beer that complimented the Burrito nicely. No review would be complete without a trip to the Head, the Latrine, the Litter Box, Water Closet, Indoor Outhouse, whatever. The Bathroom. It's nice to be able to say the Spikehorn passes the test. There's enough room for more than one person, it's clean, well lit and fully functional. Sounds minor, but it's amazing how many places don't get it right. However, I can only speak for the Men's room. I'm pretty sure it's almost never a good idea to check the Women's restroom just for a review. After another satisfying meal, with a beer or okay maybe two, our bill arrived on request and we checked out in short order. Once again we were not disappointed at the Spikehorn. I'm relatively sure you won't be either, though that is in no way a legally binding promise.
Great food and fast service the wait staff was very friendlyRecommended dishesFish and Chips, White Fish
Staff are friendly and curtious. Pizzas and broasted chicken never disappoints. Salads are excellent.
