Sobeys - Cornerstone

A smaller Sobeys in Medicine Hat. I like the bigger Sobeys stores out east, they have a wider selection, gelato, etc. I only shop here on occasion looking for different ethnic sauces, etc. A little too small for my needs. Bright and clean, with friendly staff though and a beautiful, well laid out store.

Asked a clerk where I could find a specific product and he very rudely told me “aisle 9 - there is a sign over the aisle”. Rudest response to a simple request. Customer service jobs aren’t for everyone I guess.

We were extremely disappointed with the bakery. For many years we've been ordering our kids birthday cakes here. I came in on wednesday & pre-ordered by son's birthday cake...I showed them the design we wanted in the book, told them the design # and said I needed it ready for noon saturday. We arrived at 12:10 to pick it up, it was baked but they had not started decorating it. They asked if we could come back in 10 mins. About 20 mins later they brought it out & it had the complete wrong design on it a mustache that said you are the man -not very appropriate for a 10 year old. I said we ordered this other one with the checkerboard on. They said they could fix it but didn't seem to know where to put the edible images on & in 15 mins it still wasn't done & we had to get to the party. So I had to arrange for someone else to pick it up & take it to the party. The top was barely decorated & the sides were sloppily done not surprisingly given the rush. At almost $40 for a fairly small cake & a huge hassle this was not worth it & I think next year we'll order from Co-op. They only got 2 stars because the cake itself tasted good & fresh.

First time we have been in since renovated. Store was very clean, shelves fully stocked and we found what we needed quite easily. I like being able to purchase local produce. Staff was very friendly. This isn't our usual grocery store but we will definitely be making a point of shopping here more often. I like the new pharmacy at the back of the store, this is a huge bonus.
